Primary (re)Mix

The Pirate didn't have time to snap photo's for me today, so mom to the rescue!  I knew it was going to be a challenge to teach her how to navigate my phone (I have know idea where my camera is) to take a photo.  It was hysterically painful and entertaining watching my mom's (mostly failed) attempts to take a head to toe outfit shot.  Most shots were blurry, but we had a fun time.  Here are the "best" photos.  Haha.  Thanks, Mom!

I love the mix of primary colors.  I think the pieces I paired together, worked quite nicely, and I didn't risk looking like a crayon box.  Not that there's anything wrong with looking like a box of crayons. :)

Espresso Love

Happy Aloha Friday, guys!

It's been a hectic week, so I was very thankful to have today off.  I got to sleep in super late.  I'm talking almost noon, here. Oh yeah!!  I love and am very thankful for days like today.  The Pirate even made me a yummy lunch; an everything bagel topped with cream cheese, capers, sunflower sprouts, Roma tomatoes, and cracked pepper.  Delish!  Then we went out for a little cappuccino date.  Definitely a perfect way to spend my Friday afternoon. :)

I should be prepping for our "I Heart Fashion" craft/fashion/rummage extravaganza tomorrow, but of course I got distracted with all the pretty things on interwebz.  I've been drooling over this bag for the past half hour or so.  It would be so amazeballs in a cobalt blue or kelly green.

Alrighty kiddos, (<-- haha, did I really just say type that?! oh gosh, I'm old.) gotta jet.  If I get all my shiz done quick, then maybe a late night movie is in my near future.  I've been dying to watch something scary, like, The Woman In Black! See ya and have a great weekend!

Stripes of Sunshine

As of late, I've been on a neon kick.  Neon colors aren't for the faint of heart,  but if used sparingly, it can make for a very fun ensemble.  I'm not one to disappear in the crowd, so the brighter the better.  Naturally, I love wearing neon's with darker colors, so the pairing of the sweater over all black was a no-brainer.  The Pirate suggested I ditch the usual neck-bling garb and sport one of his ties.  How lucky am I to have a dude who loves fashion as much as I do!?  Pretty darn lucky, if you ask me.

Anyone get any Jason Wu x Target pieces?  I want need the cat print scarf, but it's not available online. Bummin'.

Boy-spiration

There's something about dressing like a boy that makes me feel more like a girl.  The Pirate was surprised when I pulled this look together this morning.  He even commented that my jeans were looser than the pair he had on. LOL!!  You can hardly tell in these photos, that they are loose-fitting-boyfriend-jeans, but they are.  They're so loose that I can slip them on and off without unbuttoning them. Probably one of the most comfiest pairings I've worn in a long time.  I was also impressed with this shirt I picked up from Old Navy last weekend.  All the stripes actually match at all the seams.  Quite impressive, coming from a company that produces for the masses.  And don't you just love my fluorescent Cambridge satchel?!  It makes me smile every time I use it.

Furball

Another chewie to add to the collection.  It's become apparent that I'm living in the wrong part of the world.  My destiny is to live in a much cooler climate, so I can wear fur without getting strange stares glares from passers-by.  I can't help myself when it comes to (faux) fur... the more, the merrier!  I did get quite a few compliments about the fur today.  Strangely enough, they were from the over 60 crowd.  Go figure.

Leoplaid

I picked up these blue pants over the weekend.  Considering they're from F21, they're comparable to my Zara pants.  I still prefer the Zara version, but I've been looking for a pair of brilliantly colored blue pants. These will do the trick for now.  If you decide to buy these babies, size down.  They stretch out a lot!  I hate when the knee and the derriere part of a pant sags.  Who wants a saggy ass?! Not I.

I was a bit doubtful of pairing this plaid blazer with a leopard print cami, but to my surprise it works quite well.  Then again, leopard (or cheetah) is becoming more of a neutral, don't you think?  It goes with nearly everything.  I may have to rethink my favorite color (which if you didn't know, is pink.  which is sorta weird because I don't like to wear pink) and switch it to leopard.  Crayola, if you're reading this, two words: Leopard Crayon.  Just sayin'. ;)

Floral Sequins

Sequins aren't necessarily just for night time fun.  You can totally make it day appropriate.  I got this floral print sequin tank over a year ago and it finally came out of  hibernation yesterday.  Since I was just out running errands, I didn't want to look too "fancy", so I paired it with some jeans and Chucks.  I'd have to say this is one of my favorite "off-duty" looks.  The Chucks haven't really left my feet since I got them.  The Pirate is not too pleased with that.  He def misses me in heels!

Have a great weekend, guys!

Build

I adore jewelry that make statements.  They don't have to be "showy" pieces, but they do need to be interesting and inspiring.  That's what I love about V Nunes Jewelry.  Veronica Nunes is brilliant at creating amazingly gorgeous modern pieces.  Let's meet the woman behind the line...

Tell us a little about yourself
I am a jewelry designer and goldsmith and native from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Since an early age, I have had a great passion for designing and crafting small objects. My first contact with jewelry design came while studying at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) with a degree in product design. I immediately identified with the jewelry crafting process and the opportunity it provided to express my design ideas into small wearable pieces of art. As a product designer, I am focused on designing attractive wearable objects that will enhance the human body form as well as will fit the body comfortably, ergonomically.

Where do you find inspiration (for your jewelry line? Etc...)
The natural environment as well as man made objects inspires me. My hometown is filled with beautiful beaches, lush forest and iconic rock peaks that served as inspiration for my first collection. Now that I have made NYC my second home, I’ve been inspired by the diversity of architecture, people, objects and human made landscapes in the city.

What type if girl do you see wearing your designs?
I design jewelry for the modern independent woman, who has her own personality and style. I design pieces to make them feel elegant, confident and feminine at any occasion.

Your fashion icon? And favorite designer?
Costanza Pascolato, Antonio BernardoIf you could style one famous person with your designs, who would it be?
If I could style one famous person, would be Madonna.

Hop on over to see Veronica's complete jewelry line; V Nunes.  You will not be disapointed!  And you'll want to own everything! I know I do. :)

Here's the rest of my ootd.  I'm really lovin' the pink and red trend, but wasn't ready to go so bold with the pink, so I think this micro check shirt is the perfect way to ease into the trend.  Baby steps, right?  Happy Hump Day, loves!

Feeling "Official"

Today was my first day of draping.  It was really exciting to actually manipulate fabric on the dress form to create a garment versus flat pattern making.  The fabric comes to life in front of your eyes!  We started with draping a sloper.  I won't lie, it's not as easy as I thought it would be, but I'm sure this semester will be tons of fun.  Like I told everyone today... "Draping feels more 'design-y'". lol.

This look is actually from last week when the weather was a little cooler.  It wasn't "cool" enough to wear a fur (when is it really in Hawaii?!), but I was in the office the whole day and our office is FREEZING!

Faux-stagram

I want an iPhone for two silly reasons; Instagram and Siri. :)  I'm sure if I had one, I wouldn't utilize all the capabilities the iPhone has to offer.  I have an ap on my smartphone that's comparable to instagram, pixlr-o-matic.  I guess it's pretty "neat" and will suffice.

Surprisingly, I haven't really worn any heels this year.  Flats (which are minimal in comparison to my heels) are my go to as of late.  Strangely enough, my body/knees/feet are "aching" from all this flat-wearing.  I would love to invest in a pair of Tory Burch flats.  Any recommendations?  And yes, I'm wearing the same jeans from the last post.  Certainly, I'm not the only one that wears their jeans more than once during the week.

Toodaloo! See you in a few....

Lumberjack

I got this plaid shirt from AE a couple weeks ago and it's been heavily rotated since.  I've also recently discovered my love for liquid eyeliner (thanks Hana).  It takes some practice, but I love it.  Hope everyone had a great weekend!  Ciao.

Day Off

On my days off, I try to keep my look easy peasy lemon squeezey.  But before I dash out the door, I have to add a little bling.  What's your uniform on your days off?

Chewie

I bought my sissy in law her first (faux) fur vest this past Christmas.  I was hesitant that she wouldn't be so keen on the idea of wearing fur, since her style is pretty laid back and simple, but to my surprise, she adored it.  She likes to call her vest, Chewbacca... and now, so do I. :)

I'm really loving my JC "Winger" oxfords.  Obsessed with the two-tone and of course the stud detailing.

Why are you wearing rubber shoes?

Happy New Year!!  2012 is going to be magnificent.  I just know it.

Since we had a quiet night at home last night, the Pirate took me out for dinner tonight. And since I was dressed up with no where to go last night, I decided to take my new skirt out for a spin.  Funny thing, my grandma saw me in this outfit and told me I looked so pretty, until she saw the shoes.  She stood there in disbelief and asked me, "Why are you wearing rubber shoes?!"  I told her I needed to give me feet a break from the heels.  In actuality though, I just wanted to wear shoes that made me smile and that weren't such the obvious choice to wear with such a girly outfit.  Mission accomplished. :)
