A couple weeks ago, I stumbled across the online boutique,
Simply Audrey. I was instantly impressed with the selection the shop had to offer. Each piece lives up to the company's motto, "Savvy, Chic yet Simple". And let me tell ya, affordable too. I easily filled up a basket of goodies. :) I've been emailing with the shop owner, Christy, and she is a gem.. the sweetest girl ever. Let's get to know a little more about Christy, and Simply Audrey.
Tell us a little about yourself...
My name is Christy, I live in sunny California where we complain of cold when it hits 65 degrees and complain of heat when it hits 95 degrees. :) I am a wife to a wonderful husband and a mother to two little ones who just melt my heart. 6 year old girly girl Audrey and 2 year old full of energy Aaron. I love my family and I love God who gives me breath everyday.
What made you decide to start up "Simply Audrey"?
I worked in the fashion industry as a designer for almost 10 years before I decided to stay home when I got pregnant with my 2nd child. The morning sickness was HORRIBLE but that's another story I can go on and on about. I enjoyed being a stay at home with my 2 kids until my 2nd child turned two and was ready for preschool. I always wanted to have a little boutique of my own so that I can offer customers the a line of clothing that is savvy and chic especially for the working professionals. With two little ones at home, having a brick and mortar store was out of the question. So this online boutique was the perfect solution! After months of preparation and named after my lovable and a "fashionista in training" daughter Audrey, Simply Audrey was launched...
Have you always love fashion? How would you describe your style aesthetic?
I have ALWAYS loved and had passion for creating. I remember when I was really younger, going through my mom's closet and cutting up some of her clothes to either revamp it or make something for my dolls. Boy did I get in trouble for that... So after high school, going to FIDM and majoring in fashion design just seemed so natural. I loved every minute of being in school learning and creating and I couldn't wait until I finished to start working in the industry.
If I can describe my fashion style in one word, it would be "feminine." I am a very girly kind of girl and love dressing up. These days I am loving maxi skirts that make me feel so romantic and feminine, not to mention comfy and cool... Being a mom of two littles gives me a bit of restriction on what I can wear (especially shoes! I am petite but cannot think of wearing high heels or tall wedges as I am always chasing after my energetic younger one and am always afraid that I will one day just "eat it" chasing after him out in public. How embarrassing that would be? hahaha. I am secretly envious of you Sharon for being able to wear those lovely JC shoes!)
Do you have a style icon?
I DO have a style icon. Audrey Hepburn. I remember watching "Breakfast at Tiffany's" when I was a sophomore in high school and falling in love with her. I decided then that if I ever have a daughter, I would name her Audrey. Now everything ties in together right? I heart Audrey Hepburn = My heart for feminine pieces = Daughter named Audrey = Simply Audrey, my online boutique!
I hear you're a craft enthusiast, have you done any awesome DIY's lately?
My most recent DIY's is posted in my blog. It was so fun and therapeutic for me as I love crafting... My next one is the clutches that I love from you Sharon! As soon as you post your tutorial on it. ;)
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be, and why?
I would love to go back to Fiji island where we went for our honeymoon almost 10 years ago. I specifically remember sitting in the pool with my newly wedded husband and saying, "let's come back here in 10 years with our kids..." Back then it seemed like forever until 10 years would come by and we promised to do that, but hey! 10 years went by pretty darn quick! That trip will have to wait a bit, but I can't wait to go back there with our kids... Its a beautiful beautiful place...
And because I love food, what's your favorite food/thing to eat!?
I am laughing already as I try to answer this question because I love food and I am the kind of person that can eat almost anything and everything. Some of my favorites are are: Pho, korean bbq, Mastro's steak with a glass of Dr. Loosen, any kind of pasta, shaved ice, boba, thai ice coffee, McDonald's ice coffee and oh my this list can go on and on. So I will end here on my food obsessions...
