A few weeks ago, my bestie, Wendy (not to be confused with my BFF) and I had a little girl's night out which included shopping! We visited a local fave, Mahina. Mahina is a great boutique which carries a lot of cute and affordable pieces.  Everything is pretty much under $50. While I normally like shopping by myself (or with the Pirate), shopping with a girlfriend is super fun, too.  We tried on a ton of things, but I just walked away with a couple of pieces.  One being this dress and other the ring.  I really love this dress.  It's ethnic print and boxy shift design is was first drew me to the dress, but I was sold when I discovered that it had hidden side pockets.  I love pockets in dresses.  Especially when they're not so noticeable at first.

Leather scallops & polka dots

As promised, here's what I wore for my birthday dinner.  The Pirate took me to Salt.  OMG.  The food there is amazeballs.  My mouth is watering for more of their brown butter gnocchi.  I've had this skirt for a while now and I don't know why I don't use it more often.  It's so much fun.  I love the scalloped detail.  It sorta reminds me of a mermaid... a bad ass mermaid, since the skirt's leather.  Ha!  This polka dot blouse is one of my new faves.  It's has a pajama-y vibe which I totally dig.  Obviously the peter pan collar has me smitten.  Someone is desperately trying to hang out to their youth. LOL!  And since she was celebrating her birthday too (she turned TWO this year), Lita joined in on the birthday fun!

Serendipitous♥

A couple months ago while frolicking at the local mall, I happened to pop into Sears (for a quick trip to the ladies room) and stumbled across a UK Style by French Connection display.  I never shop at Sears, at least not for clothing, but this collection/collaboration looked promising.  After sorting through several racks, I headed to the dressing room with a few pieces.  The only piece that came home with me was this little tank dress.  I love the drapey fit and also the ruched detail at the hemline, which gives the dress a little sass.  The watercolor-esque print is quite fantastic as well.  A perfect summer dress to beat the hot Hawaiian heat.

And since you're probably getting tired of seeing me carry my DIY over-sized clutch, I decided to show you all one of my many many many reusable bags. This is my fave as of late. After use, the bag gets stuffed into the bunny. Adorable, right?!

I thought this was too cute to share.  The hubbs got me two cakes, because I couldn't decide which I liked better... lemon or coffee.  After trying both, LEMON for sure. :)

Happy Birthday to Me!!

Yesterday was my birthday.  TwentyNine and feelin' fine!! It was a great and perfect day spent with my favorite person in the world, my hubby. :) 

We slept in, ate some breakfast, had a early afternoon coffee date, watched a flick, and then spiced things up and enjoyed a curry-ific dinner at Monsoon India.  We dined on garlic naan with raita, veggie samosas, aloo tiki, basmati rice with cardamom and anise, lamb vindaloo, and chicken malasa.  My mouth was on fire, just the way I like.

Thank you, Pirate.  You made my special day a marvelous one.  I love you to pieces!

Happy Birthday to Moi!

Today I went to the Ali'i Kula Lavender Farm.

Enjoyed a delicious lavender scone!

[Yes, those are my shoes in my purse.  The farm was no place for walking around in 5 inch heels.  I'm aware that it's quite disgusting to have shoes in my purse.  But it's my birthday, and it's my purse. :)]
