Rumble & Bubble

A delivery from the Men In Brown (UPS) always gets me giddy.  I received my new JC's on Friday.  The Rumble is better than I expected; perfect taupe colored suede booties with just enough height.  Although we don't really need boots here in Hawaii, these are perfect for OUR fall/winter weather.

Don't you just love these rhinestone bracelets?  My lovely bloggy friend, Tiffany sent them over to me as a gift.  Isn't she a doll?!  It's from her (and her sister's) jewelry line, T + J Designs.  Check out their site.  They just launched their latest collection.  Fabulousness.

AND... I finally chose a winner (via random.org)!! Drum roll please..... Congrats to Crystal of Cryskay! Girl, I can't wait to see what you get. I'm sure it'll be something amazeballs. :) Thanks again to everyone who enter. And a big thanks to Shopbop too.

I hope everyone had a great weekend.  I'm off to enjoy the rest of mine.  Two more hours until it's Monday!  BTW, this is me trying to sport Susie's hairdo, but bigger.  I definitely love it bigger. :D

On the wings of love

I took a "mental health" day today.  I got to sleep in.  Made an indulgent egg, bacon, and cheese croissant sammie for me and the hubby.  So bad, but so good.  Hey, it's the weekend, a girl can indulge.  And I've been good on seeing my old buddy, Jim Gym.  Our relationship is on it's way to it's former existence.  I spent most of the day lounging with the hubby and Pooma.  I love days where you can just relax and do absolutely nothing.

The other month I won a Charlie & Lee promo code from Lily.  I really wanted to get me this hot little number by Stylestalker, but they only had it available in a size 2!  Then, I saw that Charlie & Lee carried JC's, so I got the Winger oxfords.  I've been wanting a pair of oxfords for a while now, and I love how these are unique.  I also love that they are two-toned and studded.  Thanks again Lily for picking me.. and thank you to Charlie & Lee too!

Well, I'm off to go do a little more relaxing.  I've got some projects to get done tonight.  Enjoy the rest of your Sunday lovelies. Kiss.

The grass is always greener

Lately, I've been sleeping with braids in my hair so that in the morning I can sport some BIG hair.  I've been loving it!  My natural hair has a very slight wave to it, but for the most part it's straight... and thick!  I've always wanted wavy or curly hair, but of course, you always want what you don't have.  I guess I should have taken some shots of the wavy bigness that I donned yesterday, but my camera was m.i.a.  There's always tomorrow! I'll snap some then.

I'm also loving the weather lately.  It's cooling down, but the sun is still shining brightly.  It was a great day to roll around in the grass.  So after class, that's just what I did. :)

Ugh I hate when my bangs split in the middle!

Rainy Days and Mondays

... never get me down.

It was rainy today.  I had the day off.  It was a great day!  Took these pics before the rain came...

{dress - Jean Paul Gaultier for Target, wedges - Nine West, belt - F21}

Played with the draping of the dress and made a makeshift shrug.

I'm also super stoked because I was one of the lucky winners of this beautiful bracelet from Amy's {junghwa by amy stewart} Rope Bracelet's Giveaway.

I can't wait to wear it!  Thanks again Amy for picking me!!  If you lovelies don't know Amy yet, definitley check out her BLOG and also her ETSY STORE.  She's a total sweetheart and is uber creative too! You're gonna want everything in her shop!  I know I do. :)

One thing that did make me a bit sad... was my failed attempt to find a boater hat.  My head is large and in charge... there is no hat on the planet that fits my head. :(

Another surprise

Had a great day at work today... and that means a lot these days!... anyway, when I got home today I recieved a fun little package... my Lipstick Queen lipgloss that I won from Diane at Snapshot Fashion.  I chose #13 from their 15 Minutes of Fame line.  It's a raspberry color and it's great!!  I'm still kind of getting used to wearing an actual color on my lips, but since it's a little sheer, it isn't "too bold".   I love the fact that there is NO stickiness or shimmer what-so-ever.  Great for windy days like the ones we've been having.  Thanks again Diane for choosing me as one of the winners!! HUGS!

**Hubbs said I look like a Filipino Princess with the lip color! ha ha, I beg to differ**

I've talked about cutting my hair sometime ago and still have done nothing about it... well until today that is.
I chopped it off!

Ok, I'm kidding.  I just tied the longer layers in the back.  I just wanted to see what I'd look like with shorter hair again.  I'm not a fan.  I'm not ready to let the long locks go.  The length is so versatile.  I can wear it slick straight, wavy, super curly, crimped, finger-waved, braids, ponys, buns, etc.  Lots of options, and although I only wear it straight and wavy most of the time, I like to know that I have options.  I definitely need a trim though.  And that's something I'll leave to my hairstylist, not the Hubbs.

D.I.Y. Friday

I called in "sick" today. My toe (gosh, doesn't it sound like I've been talking about my toe forever!!) was not doing too great at the end of the day yesterday, so I decided that I need to take the day off today and stay off my feet.  My day consisted of...
- me laying in bed with my foot elevated
- me sitting on the couch with my foot elevated
- me at the computer with my foot elevated

How fun! NOT.

I did complete a really simple DIY that I found on a blog I recently discovered, Emily of EM. ME. MA.. I used some inexpensive fabric from my stash... not really a color I wear, so don't know if I'll ever wear this out.  Next time around I want to try it with a print or different type of material.  Please pardon the messy hair and no make up look!!  This will probably one of the very very very few times you will see my hair UP. I hate it up... it probably has something to do with my "mousey" ears. :) I love them, but they're only for me to look at.. and the hubby... and the people at the gym.

Here's the finished product.

{DIY tunic/dress, jean chain worn as neckalce - F21, cuff - F21, black ribbon belt}
***I'm trying to "hide" my toe... didn't do such a good job in the second pic...

Happy Aloha Friday everyone!!

My Weekend

I had a great weekend.... but my hubby got sick :(.  Probably because of me.

Yesterday I woke up early... and by early I mean 7:30am. That's waaaaaay early for a weekend!!  It was our company's first Highway Clean-up for 2010.  We have two miles (that the company adopted years ago) designated for us to keep trash free. :)  I'm really glad I went.  This year I'd like to help out our little community more.  One "bad" thing that did happen was I got two cuts (they were teeny, but there was quite a lot of blood) on my left thigh!!!!!

Every highway clean-up the company comes up theme on what to wear (a few past clean-up attire; rasta wear, wacky hats, tacky tourist).  We had to wear GREEN this time around.... so I found this old tee from Abercrombie + Fitch and also fashioned me a green fishy headband with a googly eye :).
Saturday night (before the hubby got worse), we went to buy some craft supplies... and enjoyed some dinner together. I also picked up two really pretty dress and skirt patterns from Wally World. They're Cynthia Rowley. I can't wait to sew something up!! Speaking of sewing, Project Runway made it's debut this past week! OMG, so excited it's back in NYC. That's where that show belongs... will be posting about PR soon!
And... today was Lauren's (one of my best-est-est-est friend) baby shower. It was hosted by her family at Tiffany's restaurant. (Tiffany's has such great food!! today we had; kimchee fried rice, shrimp tempura, tofu tempura, spicy pork lettuce wraps, crispy noodles, sizzling steak bites, mochiko chicken, and seafood pancake).  Since Eli wasn't feeling well, he stayed home to rest and I brought him home his favorite, yummy Honey Walnut Shrimp, to cheer him up. :)

It was such a great little get together. Lauren was brought to (happy) tears :) .... I know that she will be such an amazing mother. I can't wait to be an "aunty" again!

The Manuels. :) {cake + cuppies, made by yours truly. I made little fishey flags, but forgot them}
Shanna, Leah, Me, Lauren a.k.a. "Baldy", and Tara
Baby shower tradition... after the gifts are open the daddy get's dressed up like a baby! Leabert was such a good sport for letting me dress him up... and of course I couldn't forget his "bottle".
and... these are the little centerpieces I made for the shower. The theme was "Fish and Poi...".  So I took empty Hanalei poi (oh yummy) plastic containers, lined them with blue tissue paper (to mimic the ocean), filled them with yummy Hawaii snacks (some ocean-ey), and created a little Koi Nobori (Lauren embraces her Japanese culture).

Snacks included, mini nori arare, red iso peanuts, heart shaped arare, honey balls, li hing mui candy, ocean-y animal crackers, and mac nut kisses
Hope everyone else had a great weekend!!!!

Love, S

p.s. I almost forgot to mention that I won another "Itty Bitty Giveaway", from Jessica at Style Obsession. Thanks Jessica, can't wait to wear my ring!!! weeeee. :)

Mele Kalikimaka!

I had a great Christmas. We spent Christmas Eve with my parents and grandma, ate a yummy dinner, hung out, and exchanged gifts.. then on Christmas day Eli and I enjoyed Champy for breakfast :) and a yummy lunch at Lulu's; Truffle Mac & Cheese, Furikake Fries, and more yummy cocktails.

What our tree looked like on Christmas Eve and a quick drawing of our outfits on Christmas day. :)

Mmmmm the yummy Mac & Cheese + Furikake fries with aioli dipping sauce!! Delish. :)
We spent Christmas evening with Eli's parents home with the sis and bro.  They prepared a yummy prime rib and crab leg dinner. It was also the first time we all tried the green bean casserole thingy that people normally make during the holidays. I was really excited to try that, but eh, it was alright. And the night wouldn't be complete without momma Cindy's pumpkin roll! After chillin' with the family we went back to our place and hung out with some friends that were visiting from Vegas and Pheonix. I love the holidays... you get to meet up with friends you haven't seen for a while. :)

I painted these for Cielle and Leah. :)
Last night we went to hang out with Carina.  It was her last night in town. We chilled and ate yummy bbq. She went home to Vegas today. Boo!! I miss her already. :(

Last week Couture Carrie let me know that I was the winner of her lovely Orient Watch Giveaway. Woo Hoo! I've been needing a new watch. Thanks again Carrie!! Can't wait! :)

I saw these rings in the December issue of  Marie Claire (Miss Lively looks stunning!) and I want them so bad! I want them in all the metals; silver, gold, and rose gold! Ahh Edward, still lingering in my mind.

How awesome is this chubby bunny for hello kitty headband?!? Awesome.

My hubby was in the "hobo" mood last night and lounged around with Pooma. Aren't they so cute!? Pooma loves her daddy. :)

Thank you, WeWearThings

This really must be my lucky week, because I was fortunate enough to win another fabulous blog giveaway. The lovely Issa of wewearthings. announced that I was the lucky winner of the ShopBop - Rachel Roy giveaway. I feel so special that she chose me because of my lovely comment... and it's true I love dressing up or playing dress up for any occasion. It's always better to be overdressed than underdressed. :)

Check out Issa on her blog.  She's got great style, adorable pooches, and is a fashionista whose feet are so lucky to walk in the beautifully crafted Christian Louboutin Very Prive Studded Peep-toe Pumps! Thanks Issa for choosing me, I really appreciate it.

I wish I had a more interesting backdrop in my home to take pics, but I guess in front of my closet will do for now.... agh, my hair is a mess (it's in it's "natural" state, no flat iron action)

Wearing: dress - Bella Lulu (local boutique), black tights - Macy's, boots - Charles Albert, belt - outlet @ Las Vegas Outlets, bracelets - F21 & Betsey Johnson

I won, I won!

I can't believe I'm even admitting this... but tonight, I went to watch New Moon AGAIN. That's number 3, OMG!! My lovely sister, Leah treated.. and the hubby stayed home :) I promise, I will not be watching it in the theatre again... but I'll more than likely be purchasing the dvd when it comes out.  ha!

When I got home I found a lovely surprise in my inbox.  Dina from Dina's Days emailed me to let me know I won her Stephanie Johnson clutch giveaway

Oooooooooooooooo!!! I was so excited. I yelled for Eli to come and see what I won! I really couldn't believe it, because I've never won a giveaway. I can't wait for the clutch to arrive. Definitely check out Dina's blog... great fashion finds, inspiration, oooh and a scrumptious baklava recipe that I'm dying to try. :) Yum. Thanks again Dina!!

Oh gosh, I can't believe it's past 1am.. I've got to get to bed. Good night and sweet dreams.

Love, S

p.s. I got this tunic a while ago (maybe a year), and although I was drawn to the lovely eyelets and puffy sleeve, when I brought it home, everytime I put it on I couldn't help but feel like a quarterback because of the puffy sleeves. Agh! But I think I finally feel great it in.. oh and it's soo comfy. :)
