Nothing to wear

If I had a nickel for every day that I stood in front of my wardrobe and grumbled about having nothing to wear, I'd be a bajillionaire.  Anyone who's seen my closet is well aware that I have a ton of clothes.  Some may say it's excessive. So, why is it that I feel like I never have anything to wear?  Perhaps the culprit is having TOO MANY clothes.  Too many options?  Too many decisions?  Could that really be it?

For years, I've tried to refine my wardrobe, but trends and fads get the best of me.  I am not a "trend-whore", but I will admit I do love trying them.  I try my best to not follow trends so blindly, but some do get the best of me.

Fashion is a funny thing, huh?  Yves Saint Laurent couldn't have said it better, "Fashions fade, Style is eternal."  I have yet to define my own personal style.  It's always changing and I like to break "fashion rules".  It what makes dressing up and being a woman so much fun.  Taking risks and being bold is something I hold true to.  Blending into the background is not an option.

Have you defined your personal style?

These green pants are the first thing I reach for when I feel like I have nothing to wear.  I swear it goes with everything... Today, I paired it with a tee made by the Pirate

{top: made by the hubby | jeans: Zara | flats: Payless}

Love, S

Great green pants! :)
I feel the same way about my closet on a regular basis, too! Oddly enough, my clothing shopping ban has helped with that. I can't run out and pick up a new thing or two each weekend, so I'm forced to get creative with what I already own.

Who would've thought green pants could be your "nothing to wear" item, they are so unique but so true, they go with everything! Love your bag!

I have the same feeling over and over again and maybe it's because what you've said. We have so many clothes that we don't know what to wear anymore :D

I like the final result :)

I've had this debate with myself one too many times.

I haven't defined my own personal style because my tastes are always changing... but I know specific things I love and always go to:

Stripes
Belts
Mixing prints
High waisted shorts, pants and skirts
Flared skirts/full skirts vs pencil/bodycon
high heels
nude heels
polka dots
big bird's nest buns
cinched cardigans
red lipstick

While I don't think these factors necessarily create a signature style, they certainly show up regularly enough to say, yeah, this is a Mae type of outfit if I see them on someone else.

N'ya mean?

I say - remember those pieces of clothes that you reach for first - they can help define what YOUR style statement is :)

literally one week before i started my blog, i threw out 8 garbage bags full of clothes and shoes in hopes of "simplifying" life. now i can really say i have nothing to wear, lol! as i rebuild my closet i'm trying to buy versatile pieces...but i fall victim to the trends, too.

love the green skinnies. i've been on the hunt for a pair because i want to wear all my leopard tops with it, for some reason...
