Trend Alert: Socks + Sandals = ?

When you think of socks paired with open-toed sandals, I'm sure one of the very first images that come to mind are thick athletic socks with Birkenstocks.  Eek!!  Then you think a little harder and fabulous images of the Spring 2010 Burberry Prorsum runway fill your head!

So, I'd like to hear your thoughts on the socks with sandals trend.  Tell me what you think.  Have you tried it?  Do you like it?  Hate it?  Scared to try it?

I'm probably the only girl on Maui that likes this trend.  Some may think I'm crazy, but that's what I love about fashion; self expression!  I like trends, but I won't follow them blindly (well, for the most part).  I'll try things at least once and if doesn't work for me or my style or my body type, then I move on.  It's all about having fun with your wardrobe, right?

{shoes - MICHAEL, Michael Kors, socks - No Brand}
I just realized how veiny my feet are! Yikes.

Happy Hump Day, Boy's Day.. and Cinco de Mayo!  Have fun and be safe.  I'm off to work.

Love, S

GREAT attitude! Why not try every trend out for ourselves before throwing them away? Brilliant!

Hey I just read about this in Cosmo. Um....I am a little too timid to try this myself. Looking forward to posts of you doing this trend though.

I have seen many people wear this trend lately and pull it off beautifully! I think it could look very stylish and trendy if done correctly, which I'm sure you will do since you have a wonderful sense of style!

I think you have to have some pretty fierce style to pull this off! Way to go!

I tried this once, though with cropped pants, not a skirt, and I felt kind of slippy and slidey all day! I will probably try this again, someday...

With the right shoes, it can work!

i LOVE this! that stigma of the ugly socks/sandals thing is so old, and i think braver fashionistas like ourselves can find ways to pull it off. maria of lulu letty does it a lot, and i think it's adorable!

as long as the socks are cute, of course (your pink ones are perfect!).

I'm all for this look! I've been searching for the perfect socks to wear though. I can't find adorable ones like your pair. All of the options I've found are just too tall.

its a cute trend, I love it!

I'm terrified to try it. I can't pull off high fashion. I'll just look like a little girl, sigh.

I think it may work for you - especially with those kickass shoes.

I haven't tried further than knee socks and shoes - and didn't leave the house because that look totally didn't work for me. But I'm on board with trying new things.

I'm not a big fan of this trend (mostly because I don't think I could pull it off, lol). But I just know there are some fabulous fashionistas out there with super cute sandals who CAN!! Sigh.

iamlisaaa said...

with the right shoes i think someone could pull it off. not me though. -.-

haha i know what you mean about skinnier and big boobs and a little fluff = smaller boobs. if i lose weight, they go first. if i gain weight, they're the last ones to gain. :( it's okay - we have the badonk-a-donk to make up for it! :)

I LOVE this trend. I actually just bought myself some ankle socks from J Crew. I should've gone for the hot colours, but I'm too scared to rock those.

Oh shit, you're in Maui! Not HNL. DAMN. When I move to Hawaii next year you won't be close enough to hang out with on a daily. BOO!

Did you get my question email, or was it too personal?

PS.
I'm hosting a Sephora and brand name surprise beauty
