Plaid on Plaid

Today was my first day back to school.  I'm really excited for this semester because I get to work with knit fabrics.  I've always been intimidated working with knits, because they can be quite finicky, so I'm hoping that this course will allow me to hone in those skills needed to sew knit fabrics with more confidence.  I can't wait!

This plaid blazer is probably one of my fave thrift finds.  I love the shorter length and the shoulder pads.  Yeah, I dig a strong shoulder. :)  I've been on the hunt for some sequin pants and I happened to stumble across these the other week, while on the way to the ladies room in Macy's.  haha!  I like that they're jeans and that only the front half is covered in sequins.  Pretty unique if you ask me, and I don't have to worry about snagging any sequins when I sit down.  The price point was a steal, too.  What new sartorial pieces have entered your closet lately?

Gingham girl

Obsessed with gingham & plaid, I tell ya!

I wore this shirt to work with a pair of jeans and flats, but decided to dress it up a bit with a skirt and heels for a dinner and movie date with the Pirate.  We ate at one of our fave little restaurants, Penne Pasta.  While at dinner we both decided to keep our cellphones out of reach, so that we could really enjoy our time together; talk to each other, rather than tweeting, instagraming, or FB-ing our little date.  Haha.  With technology and social networking literally at our fingertips these days, we can easily get wrapped up in cyber world, when the real world is passing us by.  The Pirate and I always have a great time together, but last night was extra fun.  As corny as it sounds, date nights are important in relationships.  It's a great opportunity to reconnect with your partner. :)

These orange platforms are another great pair that MyHotShoes sent me.  I don't have any orange shoes, so I thought this pair would be a great addition to my shoe collection.  I swear it feels like you're walking on a cloud in these babies.  They are super lightweight.  The platform makes it's a breeze to walk in, too.  Don't forget, my readers get 20% off (promo code: SHARON2) any pair of shoe or shoes you want from MyHotShoes.  There are tons of great summer sandals to choose from!

Pink Lemonade

The neon trend is probably one of the most seen trends right now.  I'm no stranger to color and I embrace it with open arms, so when I saw these hot pink shorts, I knew I had to have it (I also have it in a citrine and teal hue).  Paired with a trusty gingham shirt and my newly acquired lime green sandals, this is probably one of my fave weekend looks.  The trade winds were back this weekend! Whew.. thank goodness.  Hope you all are soaking up the rest of the weekend.  :

Glad in Plaid

Weekends are the best, until Monday creeps up on you.  Was your weekend fun-filled?

I've been craving plaid shirts lately and over the weekend I acquired two new ones.  Old Navy stocks pretty comfy plaid shirts.  They're light weight and airy enough to beat the heat, and also provides great coverage so that you don't need to wear a cami underneath.  At only $24 a pop, I wish I bought each color.  What are your sartorial cravings as of late?
