Oahu getaway

Although it's just a hop, skip, and 30 minute flight away, I always look forward to visiting Oahu.  One of the main reasons, my sister lives there.  She lovingly and generously always invites us to stay with her (and her rad BF and their two adorable but socially awkward cats, Maddie & Chloe) in her lush green valley chateau.  Another reason... shopping.  If you've been to Maui, there are plenty of things to do, but one of them isn't shopping.  Haha.  At least not the shopping I prefer.

Since I don't have a reliable camera these days (I normally just use my phone), I didn't capture too many snaps... but I hope you enjoy the ones I did...

Each morning we woke up with the sound of birds chirping (some where chickens), the river running, and the sunlight peeking through the window pane.  Looking out the window, it was as if we were engulfed by lush greens.  Pretty amazing, if you ask me.  And we ended each night with a glass (or two, or three) of Blue Moon and Guinness.

When on vacay (especially if I know I'm gonna shop), I normally wear a dress and flats.  Easy peasy to take on and off, while in dressing rooms.  And if I'm going to be walking all day, a pair of comfy flats are the best option.

My Sister treated us (for the Pirate's bday) to a delectable dinner at Le Bistro in Niu Valley.  It was my first time at a French restaurant and OMG, I am hooked.  I tried escargot and foie gras for the very first time.  DEEELIIICIOUS!  I had the Beef Quartet and the wagyu beef with foie gras slider which was AMAZING!  Seriously, one of the best meals of my life.  Yum!

We enjoyed lunch at the Wai'oli Tea Room.  This quaint little restaurant is located in Manoa.  If the Pirate and I ever move to Oahu, we'd love to live in Manoa.  The homes there have so much character and the weather is always cool.  :)

Ate one of my favorite meals, bibimbap at Yogurstory.  I loved Yogurstory and can't wait to go back.  Apparently, it's owners wanted to initially open up a fro-yo joint (but I didn't see any indication of froyo anywhere.  The waitress mentioned they turned the froyo counter to a bar instead), and came up with the name, but only after everything was printed (i.e. signage, menus, etc...), they caught the typo.  Sorta neat, if you ask me.

His and her shoe porn...

Visited Bamboo Sky in hopes of meeting Tiff, but she wasn't in.  Instead I met the cutie patootie and ever so bubbly, Adele!  Hi Adele!!!  Can't wait to come back to visit and of course SHOP!

And of course I had to meet up with one of my bloggy bestie's, Mae.  Gosh, I look like a heffer standing next to Mae.  Note to self, never ever ever ever wear anythine over sized when taking photos with this petite bombshell.  And of course I had to sport Mae's "favorite" shoe, the Lita.  NOT.  She nearly barfed when she saw them.  Man, I love this girl.  She is amazeballs.  Can't wait to chill with her again.  Hopefully next month.  Yippee!

I had an awesome time and can't wait to go back.  So much fun.  Have a great weekend, guys!

Love, S

Lookin good girl! I totally feel you on the Manoa thing. I just moved to Upper Makiki/Lower Manoa area, and I seriously think deeper into Manoa is one of the most idyllic places to raise a family on Oahu.
