Just wanna make the world dance

I haven't been posting as much lately, because honestly, I feel like I'm in a fashion rut.  I haven't shopped in months (okay, weeks) and feel like everything I put together is just plain 'ol BORING!  Now, don't get me wrong, I stalk websites daily and window shop, but I feel like a lot of stuff I want are disposable pieces.  Sure, they'll bring instant gratification, but I think I need to start adding more timeless/classic pieces to my wardrobe.  First thing on the list, a classic black heel.  Perhaps, this one or this one.  Yes, I don't own a simple black heel.  That's unheard of!  Everyone woman has a black heel, right?  I've also refrained from buying anything lately because I keep telling myself that I can make it, so why do I need to buy it?  Now, it's just finding the time to make all these things that I want.

Don't worry, I'm still that girl that loves outrageous and impractical things (remember, I own 3 pairs of Lita's), but I'm slowly learning to contain the crazy-ness.  And now, I present to you my boring outfit of the day.  I had flats on earlier, but thought the look would be a little more interesting with heels.

{Mossimo blazer | F21 lace top | Old Navy skinny cargos | Jessica Simpson "Dany" sandals | Deena+Ozzy fur clutch}

Love, S

Sharon, as much as I know where you are coming from in respect to feeling like everything you put together is "boring", I honestly feel like your outfit is anything but! You look very chic and I think there are enough details in your top/clutch to make it look interesting without looking like you're trying too hard =) I'm also super proud of you for taking control of the things you buy and taking into consideration what it means to buy pieces with longevity. I agree that it's way too easy to get sucked into fast fashion and at the end of the day, the wardrobe really doesn't flourish unless it's filled with pieces that one truly loves, not instantaneous "buy now, wear now" pieces!

Keep at it and know that you're an inspiration to me! <3

Oh, hun, You never, ever have been boring! You are so gorgeous. I like your combo. That black blazer is definitely a timeless piece. You know, I don't have simple, classic heels as well. This year I have began updating my clothet with basic and timeless pieces as well. Now I'm having fashion diet :) , working on The 5 Piece French Wardrobe. You can read about it here:

Hey girl, welcome back! I always check your blog every day to see if a new post is up. FINALLY! :D

I'm the opposite of you. I don't like crazy stuff (no Litas for me, EVER!hahaha..) and I like to play it safe when it comes to fashion. I guess that explains why most of my shoes are black :p But you're right, a pair of classic black pumps is a must-have in your closet. Save up for Loubs! :D

You have a smile that could light up a room, Sharon. Just beautiful.

P.S. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's safe to assume I'm never going to receive this "package" of yours? Especially considering I was initially suppose to get it back in December. All good, though.

XOXO,
Lily

That's how I feel, too, and this is what is going on with me. I feel so uncreative when it comes to remixing my wardrobe. But in times like this, we should remember to keep it simple. Dress up the basics like you did here, and everything will be fine!

Hi S!

Everyone goes through those ruts and honestly, I wasn't motivated to do any shopping while doing the 30 for 30, but shopping is induced by stress - and I've been stressed lately so I've been buying up a storm now that my 30 days are over.

I always like the idea of buying pieces that are a little more structured and have longevity. I have a combo of dispossable clothes and others that are investment worthy.

Spring's almost here so you'll be out of your rut in now time. :)

Even if you are having a rut, you definitely don't look like it -- you look chic and adorable as always! These photos are so dreamy, and I love the bright lipstick on you. I hope that you find your sartorial inspiration again soon -- I know it's got to be a little frustrating when it comes to blogging :)

BTW, it's been so warm here that I've finally been able to wear the JC sandals you sent me! They are so much fun and I love them to pieces. Thank you so much again :)
