For the love of labels

My bff and I were talking the other day about fashion blogs.  She is in a blog rut and contemplating a revival.  I'm hoping she gets back to blogging real soon.  Well, she'd mention to me that she doesn't understand why some bloggers list "random" or "no label" when they're describing their outfit details.  I told her maybe there isn't a label.  And she argued that every single piece of clothing she owns has a label and even though it's not a designer or well known label, there's still a label.  So, that got me thinking, are we label whores?  I'm certainly not, but maybe if I had the budget to afford a designer wardrobe, I'd probably be one.  Just kidding.  Well only half kidding.  I'm sure we'd all love designer goods, but I'd definitely choose a "no label" dress that fit me perfectly versus a designer piece that did nothing for my body.

So, here is my current "no label" dress.  I'm still not over floral prints.  I don't think I'll ever be.  Pardon the wrinkles, I was sitting all day.

{Spicy Girl (via Mahina) dress | hubby's shirt | Jeffrey Campbell "Charli-C" clogs | Wendy Mink ring | necklace from hubby}

Isn't this a funny picture?  Don't only pregnant women do this?  I have a baby growing in there.. a FOOD baby! ;) I was hungry during these snaps, so I decided to hold my starving tummy. LOL.

I love a sweetheart neckline.

Pooma says Hi!  Her paws will forever be stained, but she's still the cutest little puppy in the whole wide world!!!

Laters... gotta feed my food baby.

Love, S

Sweetheart necklines are my favorite, really cute dress! And hmm, maybe sometimes bloggers find pieces in thrift shops & the label is removed?

ahahahahah - Sharon - you are soo friggin funny! food baby - I feel like J holds my food baby all the time and people must think me be preggers. Pooma's adorable and I get what you guys are saying about labels.
I think it's just some labels are so unknown that even if you list it, it's really nothing anyone else understands. I feel like this about a lot of cute stuff I find at lil fashion boutiques or cheapie fashion shops. I know in L.A. some company just makes a ton of the same ish, then different buyers slap their own whatever brand labels on them. Same with F21 even. So I think unless it's a label from a well known chain or brand, it's otherwise useless to call it out. I see a lot of bloggers call out labels from Target even - because everyone knows what it is. Just my opinion. Hope she gets out of her funk soon - but I understand.

Your outfit is adorable and so is your doggie!

Yeah...I really don't wear any big labels (my wallet says no). But I do call out my regular H&M; New York & Co type of labels on my blog. Sometimes I don't write anything...it's like why bother.

I totally agree..(Thats pretty much how my closet is anyway, since I kinda have an unusual body shape!) I would rather have a closet full of no labels that make me look stunning verses money out the door with clothes that don't fit me right!

cute dress!!! love your wendy mink ring...too cute!!

Aww your puppy is so cute! (and im not much of a dog person haha).

I could honestly care less about labels. If it's trendy and happens to have a big label attached to it, I may cave (only if I like the piece), otherwise I hate publicizing where I shop. To me, walking around with the brand all over your shirt is the least fashionable thing of all!

you look adorable!! and so is your puppy!
i use "random" sometimes but mostly when i wear a bunch of jewelry..only because i find them in different places all over the world, i just don't remember/feel the need to list them all out? maybe its just laziness..haha

I sometimes do that too. I don't see the point of labeling a "random" brand.

Love the outfit. I'm not big on labels myself, but it's to each it's own.

What an adorable puppy!

I get a little frustrated when bloggers don't describe their clothes - like on Lookbook when people just label things 'dress, shoes'. Sometimes I just really want to know where they got something from!

Also, your collection of Jeffrey Campbell shoes is sooo impressive! Love! I only recently discovered them but I can see how the obsession can begin!

I don't think I'll get over florals, either:) Lovely outfit, S! It's true though, I have some items that don't have labels on them. I'm definitely a fan of mixing high and low end items:) I'm with ya, I need to go feed my food baby, too haha! You're too cute!

Oh, I'm totally not over floral print dresses either. They've been a staple in my closet for years. I love the color on this one, it's the perfect sun-bleached print!

You know I hear you on this label thing...and look at you. Your dress isn't a label and it's very cute...and you ring is spectacular.

But I still wouldn't mind a littttle allowance for some designer things. Just a few.

Carrie
