Don't you just love coming across a new website filled with pretty clothes? I know I do. I recently found Alainn Bella and LOVED everything I saw. Here are my favorites.
I got to chat it up with owner, Megan and asked her a few questions.
Tell us a little bit about yourself (where you're from, personal style, random facts)
I was born and raised in New York by a bunch of loud mouths. I don’t really know how to define my personal style because I’m all over the place. I will basically wear anything provided I like it, it fits, and I feel confident and comfortable wearing it. I was born right in the middle of Christmas dinner—getting the attention I so rightly deserved! I’m a faux-red head, but 99% of people think it’s real and I’d like to keep it that way. I’m a major TV/movie junkie and can spend hours watching nonsense. I went to Fordham University for a Bachelors in Communications and after working in TV production made a haaaaard right and opened my own store. What made you decide to open up Alainn Bella?
This was never a dream of mine growing up. It was the first snap decision I’ve ever made, and I haven’t regretted it once. I actually enjoy it more than anything I’ve ever done before. Plus, I’m my own boss lady, which means not having to work for any crazies anymore—major perk!
How did you come up with the company name?
Translated, my store name means beautiful beautiful. The first part being Gaelic representing my Irish side and the second part being Italian representing my Italian side. (Pronunciation: aw-lin bel-la)
Where do you find/gather fashion inspiration?
I’m a people watcher. I like to see how other people put things together and I take mental notes on things to try myself. I also spend a lot of time mixing and matching things in my closet until I find something just right.
How do you decide what to stock your store with?
When I go to showrooms and trade shows to decide what to carry in my store, the most important factors for me are style and value. For style, it needs to be a stand-out/must-have, or it needs to be a basic—no in betweens. For value, I think about whether I would pay X amount of dollars for something. So the price point on the items in the store vary because I believe certain things are worth more than others: like a bag vs a tank top, or a cotton tank vs a silk tank.
What type of girl do you envision shopping at Alainn Bella?
A 20/30-something, who is most unfortunately on a budget, but knows she doesn’t have to sacrifice all of her hard earned cash to be stylish.
If you could give one fashion tip, what would it be?
I think the single most important aspect of any outfit is fit. It has to fit you and your body’s proportions—perfectly. That doesn’t mean you can’t wear loose things, but when you do, there should be some indication of a body shape underneath! .
Thanks Megan for sharing your thoughts with me and my readers. Megan and I have something exciting lined up in the near future, so stay tuned. :)
For now, hop on over to Alainn Bella and start shopping! And Megan was so sweet to offer my Elisharon readers 20% off any item (except for sale items and gift cards. not applicable with any other promos).
