Happy May!

W.O.W.  I can't believe it's been a month since my last entry.  Slacker is totes my middle name.  Eeps!  I promise that this summer my blog will be popping with tons of my sartorial adventures.  Get ready, I'll redeem myself and revive the blog.  The time spent away from my beloved blog has been filled with work, school, tons of sewing!!, fashion shows, side orders, and an Oahu trip. Yes, I just got back, and boy, did I have a blast!

I got to meet up with my bestie boo, Mae, got our grub on and had so much fun talking and laughing, we forgot to take a photo together. :(.  Visited my other boo, Emilie and shopped at her rad shop, Homecoming.  Got to meet Emilie's shopgirls, the super amazing, bubbly, and gawgus, Gabriela and the cute patootie, Raella.  AND I finally met up, in real life!, the supah gorgeous Tiff and of course shopped and celebrated 7 years of amazingness in her shop, Bamboo Sky.  Happy to have seen the beautiful, Adele, too, even if it was for a short time.  Oh and I even met the lovely, Salem.  She totes knows how to work the runway!  On top of meeting all these fabulous beauts, I even got spotted at the HCC Fashion Show by a couple of my readers.  It's was surreal, humbling, and flattering.  Thanks so much for supporting me and my little ol' blog!  :)

Well, I'd love to share with you guys a small collection that The Pirate and I worked on (in four days, mind you) for our college's (UHMC) Fashion Technology fashion show.  We played with longer lengths, layered pieces, and one of our favorite trends, print mixing.  Enjoy...

Conception

Hey guys! Sorry for being M.I.A.  I've been nursing a cold for about a week, but thankful that I've been getting the rest my body deserves.

As promised here are a few (22 to be exact) photos from the fashion show.  I really do love the collection that the Pirate and I created.  I love everything about it.  The simple and clean feminine silhouettes mixed in with edgy elements like spikes, studs, and leather is the perfect mix of EliSharon.  So without further ado, I present our collection, FIRST: a student designer showcase by Elisha & Sharon Clemons.  Enjoy!

Fabric to Fashion

It's been nearly two weeks since the fashion show that I, along with my fellow Couturiers participated in.  The show was a tribute to Alfred Shaheen; showcasing vintage pieces and also the grand opening to his exhibit in the Schaefer Gallery.  With his undeniable talent of creating textiles, Shaheen helped popularize the Hawaiian shirt and aloha wear.  It was truly an honor and privilege, as a student designer to be able to show with the likes of established Hawaii designers;  Bernard FoongAnne Namba, and Maggie Coulombe.  It was also great to see Andy South again.  He did a fabulous job emceeing the event.

Collectively, we decided to incorporate a Hawaiian-ish textile into our collection, to pay tribute and honor Shaheen's legacy.  The fabric we selected had a retro feel to it and definitely stood out on the runway.  I'm still waiting to see/get photos from the event, but local photographer, Anna Kim, was able to capture this gorgeous shot of my design.  I had the best model evaaarrr, Sofia. She worked the runway and my dress like no other. And the hot pants looked AMAZEBALLS on her. LOVE!  Visit Anna Kim's blog, to see a few more snaps from the show.

Sneak peek

Hi guys!  I've missed you all.

Hard work definitely pays off.  All the blood, sweat, and tears (literally) that went into the production of our show was totally worth it.  Last night, was one of the most thrilling nights I've experienced.  To work with such a great and creative team was an honor.  I am proud of every single person that was involved.

My hubby and his amazing talents never cease to amaze me.  Here is a sneak peek of the pieces he and I created.  I'm blessed to share the same passion with my soulmate.  Bravo honey... congrats to the both of us.  Doors are opening, and this is just the beginning.

Monochroma.chic

It feels good to vent.  I received numerous emails from bloggy friends, asking if I was okay.  And, I am.  I'm sure my last post was alarming, especially because I live in the land of rainbows and unicorns, but I assure you everything is A-ok!  And to clear things up, I didn't get slapped in the face.  :)

Anyhoo, if you've been an avid reader of my blog (awww, thanks! and welcome new readers), you know that I have a fashion show coming up.  It's for the fashion club I belong to at school.  Our theme is MONOCHROMATIC.  We all had to choose a color from the rainbow, Tim Gunn style.  Yup, that's right... out of a bag!  I got green.  I'm still trying to embrace the color. The process has definitely been a "make it work" journey.  Our show is in 11 days and a sewing miracle needs to happen this week.  We have our first model fitting on Friday.  Aggggghhh!

If you're going to be on Maui on April 16th, I'd love for you to come and check out our show.  If not, I promise to post photos.  And want to give a big shout out to my girl, Kristy.  Thanks for being an inspiration to our fashion show's name.  ♥Love ya!  :)

when you live forever, what do you live for...

The semester is winding down and I'm a bit sad.  I happy that we get a break for 3 weeks, but sad that a few friends that I've made this semester won't be taking the same classes that I'll be taking next semester  :(  And I'm super sad that one friend is moving to Orlando! Boo!!  Sally, stay!  I'll buy you an new LV bag.. ha ha.

Here's are a few pieces that I've done recently.  I'm super stoked for next semester because I get to learn how to make my own patterns (flat pattern making) and will also be taking a knits course.

Okay, time to go clean up my sewing mess... don't forget to enter my Jeffrey Campbell Giveaway below!! :)

Out.Of.Control.

Omg.  I die.  You look bananas.  I think I just had a Chanel Heart attack!

This is year for Halloween, I decided to dress up as something completely and utterly fashionable... Rachel Zoe.  I got the idea from Carolina's Halloween for Fashionista's post.  I even got the hubby to dress up as my assistant, Brad Goreski.  We dressed up for class today and it was a hit.  Not too many people knew who we were, but everyone thought we were F.A.B.U.L.O.U.S.  I'd have to agreed.  Anyone else dressing up?

Off to Oahu!  See ya all next week.  Have a safe weekend. Kisses.
