Primary (re)Mix

The Pirate didn't have time to snap photo's for me today, so mom to the rescue!  I knew it was going to be a challenge to teach her how to navigate my phone (I have know idea where my camera is) to take a photo.  It was hysterically painful and entertaining watching my mom's (mostly failed) attempts to take a head to toe outfit shot.  Most shots were blurry, but we had a fun time.  Here are the "best" photos.  Haha.  Thanks, Mom!

I love the mix of primary colors.  I think the pieces I paired together, worked quite nicely, and I didn't risk looking like a crayon box.  Not that there's anything wrong with looking like a box of crayons. :)

I've got Pep(lum) in my step!

I've never met a peplum I didn't like.  Women of all shapes and sizes can pull off the peplum look, it's just finding the right peplum for your shape and size.  Since I'm quite curvy and my waist-to-hip ratio differs by more than 10 inches, a fitted peplum is normally what I fancy.  It allows me to show my curves, but still accentuates a cinched waist.  I wanted to try something different; a loose-fit peplum.  I made this top last year and yesterday was the first time I wore it out.  I questioned that the loose fit would make me appear larger, but I think it actually works for my body type.  And pairing this top with a flared jean is a perfect counterbalance.  I'll probably try to make this top office appropriate and mix it with a printed pencil skirt.

Are you a peplum type of gal?  Or is this a style that is out of your element?

I ♥ you EGG-actly the way you are

I love LUXIRARE's blog for three reasons; her "mad scientist" blog aesthetic, her brilliant ability to create gorgeous leather goods, and the abundance of beautifully crafted food porn!  She is genius, I tell ya!  I was so impressed with her version of Egg-In-A-Hole that I too, had to try to reinvent the old breakfast classic.  While mine isn't as refined as hers, I was very delighted with my medley of food.  I shared my creation on her FB page and was touched to see that she shared my version on her live blog.  Thanks Miss Luxirare. ;)

I actually made these egg-themed cutting board meals for me and the Pirate's LoveDay dinner.  He isn't a fan of runny eggs, so I made him a fried egg sammie with pepper jack.  And a meal isn't complete without dessert.  We devoured a mini banana cream pie and triple berry pie from Leoda's.

Wax on, wax off

For quite some time, I've been entertaining the idea of getting ombre tresses, but not sure if it's really "me".  My solution: Color.Bug.  Basically, it's make-up for your hair.  I love how this awesome little pod of color can turn my boring long locks into something rad and eye catching, without the commitment.  It will only last until I was it out.  Yay!

I've been wanting a pair waxed denim jeans (I may just DIY my own), but haven't found a pair that I fancied, however I did find this awesome waxed-effect vest.  Current want, fulfilled.  Double Yay!

Espresso Love

Happy Aloha Friday, guys!

It's been a hectic week, so I was very thankful to have today off.  I got to sleep in super late.  I'm talking almost noon, here. Oh yeah!!  I love and am very thankful for days like today.  The Pirate even made me a yummy lunch; an everything bagel topped with cream cheese, capers, sunflower sprouts, Roma tomatoes, and cracked pepper.  Delish!  Then we went out for a little cappuccino date.  Definitely a perfect way to spend my Friday afternoon. :)

I should be prepping for our "I Heart Fashion" craft/fashion/rummage extravaganza tomorrow, but of course I got distracted with all the pretty things on interwebz.  I've been drooling over this bag for the past half hour or so.  It would be so amazeballs in a cobalt blue or kelly green.

Alrighty kiddos, (<-- haha, did I really just say type that?! oh gosh, I'm old.) gotta jet.  If I get all my shiz done quick, then maybe a late night movie is in my near future.  I've been dying to watch something scary, like, The Woman In Black! See ya and have a great weekend!

Stripes of Sunshine

As of late, I've been on a neon kick.  Neon colors aren't for the faint of heart,  but if used sparingly, it can make for a very fun ensemble.  I'm not one to disappear in the crowd, so the brighter the better.  Naturally, I love wearing neon's with darker colors, so the pairing of the sweater over all black was a no-brainer.  The Pirate suggested I ditch the usual neck-bling garb and sport one of his ties.  How lucky am I to have a dude who loves fashion as much as I do!?  Pretty darn lucky, if you ask me.

Anyone get any Jason Wu x Target pieces?  I want need the cat print scarf, but it's not available online. Bummin'.

No "Aloha"

I'm not a big fan of football, or any other sport for that matter (maybe shopping will become a sport one day!), so I had no interest in watching the game today.  I did tune in for the half time show and Madonna's performance was stellar.  She still got the moves.  What did you guys think?

Yesterday, the Pirate and I ventured to the south side of the island; Kihei/Wailea.  I really wanted to check out the Shops at Wailea, since I haven't been there in such a long time.  First stop was BCBG.  Let me tell you, the SA's there, had zero understanding of what the "Aloha Spirit" means and customer service is.  I was discouraged as soon as we walked in.  None of them (there were four!) greeted us, yet they greeted every other person (tourists) that came in after us.  I mean, seriously, a simple Hello would have sufficed.  There was one snarky SA in particular, that I would have liked to give my two cents too, but it wasn't worth my time and energy. Eventually, one SA offered her assistance and was quite "pleasant" in comparison to the rest.  Not sure if I'll be returning there anytime soon.  The other places that we visited (Betsey Johnson, Banana Republic, Gap, Gucci, Bottega Veneta, Karamel, and Louis Vuitton) had exceptional customer service.  Thank God! :)

Have you ever experienced poor customer service while shopping?  If so, where? And did you do anything about it?

Boy-spiration

There's something about dressing like a boy that makes me feel more like a girl.  The Pirate was surprised when I pulled this look together this morning.  He even commented that my jeans were looser than the pair he had on. LOL!!  You can hardly tell in these photos, that they are loose-fitting-boyfriend-jeans, but they are.  They're so loose that I can slip them on and off without unbuttoning them. Probably one of the most comfiest pairings I've worn in a long time.  I was also impressed with this shirt I picked up from Old Navy last weekend.  All the stripes actually match at all the seams.  Quite impressive, coming from a company that produces for the masses.  And don't you just love my fluorescent Cambridge satchel?!  It makes me smile every time I use it.

XO {Pink ♥ Red }

If I had to choose which I liked more, X's or O's... I'd probably choose the O!  I love hugs and I give the best hugs ever.  Plus, they're free!  Ah February, the month of "love", we meet again... Bring on the flowers, chocolates, and love poems!  Or better yet, cupid, can you bring me a new pair of shoes.  Screw the chocolates, Shoes are the way to my heart!  This comes in a close second. :)

A few pink's and red's to start off the month-of-l♥ve...
