Serendipitous♥

A couple months ago while frolicking at the local mall, I happened to pop into Sears (for a quick trip to the ladies room) and stumbled across a UK Style by French Connection display.  I never shop at Sears, at least not for clothing, but this collection/collaboration looked promising.  After sorting through several racks, I headed to the dressing room with a few pieces.  The only piece that came home with me was this little tank dress.  I love the drapey fit and also the ruched detail at the hemline, which gives the dress a little sass.  The watercolor-esque print is quite fantastic as well.  A perfect summer dress to beat the hot Hawaiian heat.

Have you ever found something pleasantly unexpected at a store you never shop at?

And since you're probably getting tired of seeing me carry my DIY over-sized clutch, I decided to show you all one of my many many many reusable bags. This is my fave as of late. After use, the bag gets stuffed into the bunny. Adorable, right?!

I thought this was too cute to share.  The hubbs got me two cakes, because I couldn't decide which I liked better... lemon or coffee.  After trying both, LEMON for sure. :)

Happy Birthday to Me!!

Yesterday was my birthday.  TwentyNine and feelin' fine!! It was a great and perfect day spent with my favorite person in the world, my hubby. :)

We slept in, ate some breakfast, had a early afternoon coffee date, watched a flick, and then spiced things up and enjoyed a curry-ific dinner at Monsoon India.  We dined on garlic naan with raita, veggie samosas, aloo tiki, basmati rice with cardamom and anise, lamb vindaloo, and chicken malasa.  My mouth was on fire, just the way I like.

Thank you, Pirate.  You made my special day a marvelous one.  I love you to pieces!

Sari Dore Love

Remember my little birthday wish list?  Well, one of my lovely (bloggy) friends surprised me with something from my list.  Ling from Fashion and Number sent me the Chanel lippy (in Sari Dore) that I've be lusting for.  What a sweetheart, right?  Thank you so much, Ling!  I love it so much.  If you lovelies haven't check out Ling's blog yet, you should.  I adore her clean, chic, and effortless style.  I promise you'll love her as much as I do.  :D

The color appears red-ish in the photo, but it's actually a gorgeous orange-y shade.  I can't wait to use it!!

Blah Blah Blah

Do you ever have one of those days when you just throw on whatever is in arms reach and run out the door without even looking in the mirror?  Yesterday was one of those days.  I am one to always look in the mirror.  Always.  But we were already running late (again! will punctuality ever be on my side?) for the Pirate's haircut and a bang trim for myself, that I just needed to get out of the house, stat!  The look lacked color, so I brightened it up and also quenched my thirst with a refreshing (unsweetened) passion tea lemonade.  Delicious on a hot summer day.  And aren't these jelly flats oh-so-adorable?!  My BFF sent them to me a few days ago.  I'm a lucky gal to have great friends who send me sweet shoes!  Thanks BFF... next time send your sweet self to Maui! I miss you.  I need face time.

Pretty in Pink

I got these shoes in the mail today (thanks, Hana!).  I couldn't wait to wear them.  They are uber comfy (yay for the padded soles) and I surely can skip around town all day and all night long in these babies.  The shocking pink color screams summery good times; boldness, brightness, and freshness!  And if you haven't noticed yet, I'm that girl that likes to stand out and be noticed.  A true Leo at heart. :)  Here's a little peek into the clutch I made.  Don't you just love the neon yellow green lining!?  I've been getting quite a few comments and emails about the clutch... which gave me an idea.  Check back sometime next week and you'll see what I'm talking about. :)

5 more days until my birfday.  Me's so happy!  Have a great weekend, loves.  Enjoy it thoroughly.  I know I will.

Shopping is my cardio

What a busy week it's been for me.  Even with four days off this week, I still feel like there is so much to get done.  Earlier in the week, I did squeeze in some time for some online shopping, and one of my orders came in today.  Retail therapy definitely helps subside the hecticness!  Both of these tops are courtesy of Bamboo Sky.  I love Bamboo Sky, not only because they offer trendy and affordable pieces, but because they are a locally operated boutique.  I'm definitely a supporter of local businesses. :)  And for those of you who love to shop the old fashioned way and believe shopping is your cardio, you can check out their two store fronts on the island of Oahu. (Ward store – 401 Kamakee Street # 104 Honolulu, Hawaii 96814 (808)591-8003 + Waikiki store – 159 Kaiulani Avenue #109 Honolulu, Hawaii 96815 (808)924-6633)

What do you guys do to relieve stress?!

jux·ta·pose

Didn't the weekend zip by? I had a productive one, filled with fabric shopping and sewing. :)

I've had this dress for nearly 3 years.  I think it was one of the first pieces I thrifted.  This is the second time I've worn it.  I really should wear it more often.  I think I might use it again next week for my birthday!  I knew this dress would go perfectly with this gorgeous OWLITA feather earring that Ashley (creator/designer) sent over.  The earring is made of natural and hand dyed feathers.  The craftswomanship is exquisite.  There is a lot of love and attention to detail that goes into each design.  Snatch up you very own Owlita feather earring(s), here.  There are so many rad designs and colors to choose from.  Some of my faves would be the Prairie NaturalPrairie Black & White, and the Prairie Plum.

As for the rest of the look, I love the juxtaposition of the softness of the dress and the wild JC shoe.  My new over-sized faux leather clutch (DIY'd by yours truly) also adds another element of edge.  Me likes!!

This is what I want

... for my birthday.  But if I can't get any of these "things", I'll settle for some homemade bbq ribs.  Me loves ribs!  Oh and cupcakes too.

1.  Chanel lippy in Sari Dore.
2.  A gorgeous YSL arty ring, size 8, in Lapis, please!
3.  This bag is sold out, but I'm hoping it'll be restocked.
4.  Fuel my JC obsession with these cute summer sandals.
5.  Bright heels for a night out on the town.
6.  Mr. Jacobs, wouldn't these scalloped pretties look wonderful on me? Size 8 please.
7.  Creme de La Mer love <3.
8.  Snap Happy.  I really need a new one.
9.  And finally, something to help me be on time.  I'll have no excuse for ever being late. :)

Stars and Stripes

I'm still in a celebratory mood.  At least with my wardrobe that is. :)  Today, I donned a "stars" and stripes type of look.  The "stars" being my rad Jeffrey Campbell Glitter Lita's.  These bad boys haven't come out to play in a while.  They were excited to see daylight. :)  I got this Stripe Tail Tank Top from EgoCloset.  You all know I'm a sucker for asymmetrical hemlines, so naturally, I was beyond excited when the lovely staff (Hi Jade!) at EgoCloset told me they were sending this top my way.

A lot of their items are sized as "free" (or one size fits all and/or most), so I was a unsure if it would fit me (I normally wear a size large in tops).  When I received it though, the fit was perfect.  And it could surely fit someone who's a size small and medium too.  It would just be a little more slouchy.  Slouchy is good, especially for the hot summer days ahead.  What I love most about the tank is the sheer back.  It's an interesting surprise to what seems like an ordinary tank from the front.  To get your very own Stripe Tail Tank Top, click on over to  EgoCloset.  It even comes in a white and red combo.

Thank you EgoCloset team for sending this over. I can see it easily becoming one of my favorite things to wear for the summer.

Update:  Check out EgoCloset's big summer sale, going on right now!  Items marked 20% - 50% off (excludes new items and custom order shoes).  I would love to get my hands on this, this, and this!

Red + White stripes

Since it's fourth of July weekend, I decided to start celebrating early.  What better way to get into the celebrating mood, than to dress for the occasion? :)  I made this clutch the other night without realizing that it would be perfect for the 4th.  It's made of heavy duty upholstery canvas and completely lined on the inside.  And it's washable! Yay. You want one?  I know you do.  I've sourced a lot of other fabrics and plan on making a ton of these.  Now, I just need to find the time to make a bunch.

I found my old Nixon watch the other night too.  It's sad that it doesn't work (battery needs to be replaced), but it's okay, it looks great as a "bracelet".  I hoping to get my hands on this watch, sometime soon.  It's gorgeous!!

Well, I'm off to gallivant around the south side of the island.  Hope you all are enjoying your weekend so far!  Be safe.
