I'm so nutty

I'm still DIY-ing like crazy.  I saw this braided hex nut bracelet on Honestly WTF last week, and knew I needed to make one for myself.  So, I did, and it took less that 10 minutes to make!  It's such an easy peasy project.  Hardware chic, at it's finest. :)

I got these colored corduroy pants the other day.  I think the last time I had colored pants was in high school and surprisingly enough they were also corduroy, but they were in bubble gum pink.  I'm definitely a fan of this magenta color.  It's bright and perfect for summer.

Gotta jet... hope you all have a great night and Happy Memorial Day weekend!!

Things I'm loving

1.  It's been a long time since I've had this much pink in my wardrobe!
2.  Vintage sewing book and an over-sized faux leather clutch made by yours truly.  I would love to own this Celine clutch, but I'm sure it's out of my budget.  And of course there's the AA version, but I was able to make mine for a 1/10th of the price. :)
3.  Still obsessed with friendship bracelets.  Seriously, can't stop making them and wearing them.  Will be adding some "bling" to them.  Thanks Jules for the suggestion.

To have and to hold

Last June, I received an email from a blog reader asking about things to do on Maui.  She and her fiance were planning on a destination wedding here.  Well, over the course of a few months, this lovely lady (her name is Hana, btw) and I became friends.  And although we didn't meet in person until just last week, I felt like this was a girl I could totally get along and hang out with, if we didn't live so far (she lives in Wyoming).  Hana and her fiance, Nate were super kind and generous to have extended to us an invitation to their wedding.  I was honored. :)  Last night, we got to see the lovely couple get married!!!  It was held at Gannon's in Wailea and the ceremony was beautiful.  It was definitely a great night, and I got to meet a lot of fun people.  I also witnessed Hana's badass dance moves.  That girl definitely knows how to shake her groove thang. :)  Thank you again Hana & Nate for letting us be a part of your special day.  Here's to a fabulous marriage, filled with love, laughs, and joy!  Congrats and best wishes!

Friendship bracelets

I've been under the weather the past couple days, hence the lack in posts.  I hate getting sick in the warmer months of the year, because I feel even more miserable.  I'm super hot and sweaty one minute and the next thing I know, I'm shivering under the covers.  Well, while cruising under the covers today, I decided to do a little diy-ing.  Ever since I saw one of my fav bloggers Jules from Sincerely, Jules post about these awesome friendship bracelets, I knew I had to make a few of my very own.  They're not as pretty as the ones Jules has, but I think they turned out pretty rad.  I remember back in the day, I made a ton of these.  I miss being a kid,  it was less complicated back then, wasn't it?

And I'm sorry for not posting this sooner, but the winner of the Fabric & Handle bag giveaway is, Jess.  Congrats girl!  Thanks to everyone who entered and big thanks to Fabric & Handle too!  Jess, I'll contact you in a bit... look for my email. :)  I have another giveaway coming up and it's pretty awesome if you ask me.. check back soon!

Barbie Toe

Today, I was a vegetable.  I watched re-runs of ANTM (cycle 13).  It was the cycle with all the petite models; 5'7" and under.  The gorgeous Marisa Miller taught the girls, "Barbie Toe"; the secret of elongating short gams.  :D  Being only 5'4" myself, I'm definitely a fan of Barbie toe.  I loved how cycle 13 was partly filmed on the beautiful island I like to call home, Maui.  Woop Woop.

Here's another awesome piece Emilie from Plum for Polly sent me.  The Spots Tee is another affordable item from the Plum Picks section.  I've always been a fan of polka dots and of course you know I'm a fan of over-sized, so it was a no brainer that I'd be in love with with top.  The asymmetrical hemline is an A+ in book as well.  I originally wanted to wear with with black skinnies and some colored heels, but it was so dang hot today that I needed to throw something on that was fuss free.  And since I was in flats, I had to showcase the Barbie toe. ;)  These photos were taken earlier tonight while we waited for a table at Star Noodle.  If you guys are ever in Lahaina town, definitely stop by for some amazing food.  The cocktails are pretty rad too.  I quenched my thirst with a Stargarita; a citrus-y twist on the classic margarita.  Mm mm.

Gotta jet... it's couch time with the Pirate and Poomies.  We rented No Strings Attached.  I heart NP + AK.  Ciao for now.

In the MIDI of the Pacific

Today marks the last day of the semester and while I've learned a lot and made new friends, I'm glad it's over, for now at least. :)  I'm hoping that during my summer break I'll be able to sew me some goodies for my fall wardrobe.  I'm so excited!

Something else I'm excited about is the online boutique, Plum for Polly.  Shop owner, Emilie and I "met" back in October of last year.  She is one of the sweetest girls ever.  She's a SoCal girl, but also frequents Hawaii.  I love a girl who loves Hawaii. :)  Her shop has tons of amazing stuff.. and she also stocks Jeffrey Campbell shoes.... another reason I love her.  Another section I love is, Plum Picks.  These pieces are fun, fashionable, and affordable (items range from $10 - $40)!  Emily generously sent me the Jessica Aztec maxi.  Thank you so much.  This dress has got to be the most comfiest dress I own.  I love that is semi-sheer, but not sheer enough where I'm sharing my goodies with the world. (The world isn't ready for Sharon's goodies. haha.)  I also love the length.  Midi's are so hot right now.  And the best part is that you can snatch you very own Jessica Aztec dress for only $23!  Hop on over to Plum for Polly and start shopping now. :)

Pho Stripe-gon

Okay, that was my lame attempt at a clever title.

I really should avoid horizontal stripes, but I couldn't resist getting this tee from Free People.  It was the perfect thing to wear during our gluttonous Mother's Day Vietnamese dinner tonight at Pho Saigon.  Me loves Vietnamese food! nom nom nom.  The food baby was well hidden under the sack-like silhouette.  And even though the tee is quite sheer and airy, there was one point during dinner that I was sweating like a pig.  I ordered my dish hot and still decided to douse it with rooster sauce.  Yum-o... my mouth was on fire and I loved every moment of it.  Tonight was also my first time trying green papaya salad... ahhh, I'm in love.  It's deliciously refreshing.

How did you spend Mother's Day?  To all the mommy's and furbaby mommy's that read my blog, Happy Mother's Day!  And Happy Mother's Day to my Mom! Love you more and more each day. :D

Orange Crush

I've had a crush on this skirt since I saw it on the runway, but the hefty price tag is what stands in the way of it living cosily in my closet.  Luckily, I've got mad sewing skillz and made one of my very own.  It still needs to be graded (it was one of my project for class), but I'll definitely show you guys soon.  I've never really been a fan of orange, but lately that's the color I've been drawn to.  I've also collected a bunch of maxi dresses over the past few weeks.  They're just so easy peasey to wear.  I been wearing this one non-stop.  I've paired it with heels, scarves, a white button up, lace, and a chunky necklace (and no, not all at the same time!), but I really love this dress with this whimsy giraffe belt that my BFF gifted me a few months back.  The zippered pocket on the belt also comes in handy.

What have you guys been crushing on this season?

Birds of a feather

About a week ago, I got a few feather hair extensions put in. Since I've been too chicken to do anything to change up my current hair style, I thought this would be a fun change.  The only thing that bothers me about them, is that it seems like every girl (and their momma) has them now.  Damn you, TRENDS!

When I visited Oahu the other week, I really wanted to do a blogger meet up with Tiffany, but unfortunately she was out of town.  However, she told me to swing by her boutique, Bamboo Sky to check out their goodies.  What a fabulous boutique; tons of fun dresses, tops, skirts, and amazing jewelry.  I wanted to leave with everything in the store, but had self control and left with just 5 pieces.  :)  This top is one of them.  I love the over sized fit, asymmetrical hemline, wide armholes, and of course the stripes.  Thank you girlies at Bamboo Sky for being so fun, genuine, and helpful.  I definitely had a great shopping experience and will be back for sure!

Well lovelies, enjoy your night... Happy Cinco de drink-o! ;)  be safe.

Giveaway: Fabric & Handle

Hello my dears.  I know I've been an awful blogger, but thank you to those who are still here supporting Elisharon! There have been so many exciting things happening and I want to share my experiences with you all.  And I will.

I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before, but on Jan 14th of this year, Maui banned the use of plastic bags. All merchants switched over to paper, and our community was encouraged to use reusable bags.  I personally think mother nature is giving our little community a huge pat on the back.  I've also noticed that Maui peeps are sporting some pretty stylish reusable bags.  Yay Maui!  In efforts to help mother nature out, but remain stylish as well, I perused the interweb for a fun shopping tote, and I came across this ingenious shop, Fabric & Handle.  Let's get to know more about shop owner, Salinya and her fabulous bags.

Tell us a little about yourself. Any fun facts, tidbits, where are you from, etc...
I'm from Bangkok, Thailand. I really love finding the perfect new fabric for making my clothes or new bags. In fact, you might say I'm addicted to collecting fabric.

What inspired you to start making bags?
I've been making clothes, accessories, and bags for myself for so many years. It's like my big hobby. A lot of people asked where my clothes or bags came from. Some people even wanted me to make some for them, but I thought they were kidding. Then my hobby became more serious, and I built a workshop in my home. I kept making things for myself, my boyfriend, and my friends. After receiving nice compliments about my work, I thought it would be good to share this with more people. I hoped that maybe other people would love my creations. When I began designing and making bag models it took longer than I expected because I kept changing the small details. Now I have a couple of good tailors working with me so we can get things done faster, but I still put the finishing touches on every one of the bags myself.

Your design philosophy?
I believe a good bag is both pretty and practical. It should look nice, feel nice when you touch it, and survive daily use. The design should be simple enough that it doesn't get in the way and timeless enough that it never goes out of style.

Anything else...
I love what I'm doing so much that it doesn't seem like work at all. It's a privilege to be able put my personal touch on every bag. I can truly say that I love every bag I make. I hope that the people who order my bags will enjoy them as much as I enjoy creating them.

Fashion inspiration?
I have always been passionate about fashion. I read fashion blogs and magazines as well as watching people I see in my daily life. So I guess I've developed my own sense of style from a variety of sources.

Wow Salinya, you are awesome!  It's great to know that you put your own personal touch into each and every bag.  That's an A+ in my book.  Salinya has graciously offered the Claire Tote Shopping Bag to one of my readers.
