Bonjour! It's Madeline!

"In an old house in Paris that was covered with vines, lived twelve little girls in two straight lines... the smallest one was Madeline."

It took me weeks to finally decide what to dress up as for Halloween... Madeline (sans the red hair.  I had a wig, but it was a disaster trying to put that thing on.)  I literally came up with this idea yesterday morning and sewed up (and patterned) my costume last night.  I'm quite proud of myself.  Clearly, I work well under pressure.  Madeline was one of my favorite shows to watch as a little girl.  Looking back, I wish I had the books.  It would be a delight to come across vintage copies of the book series.  I tried to convince the hubby to dress up as the little rascal, Pepito, but he refused.  Instead he opted for a Geek-chic look.

During Halloween, Maui is known for being the "Mardi Gras of the Pacific".  Year's pass, tens of thousands of people would frolic to Lahaina town and join in on the debauchery festivities.  It's the one night you can get away with dressing a little slutty. :)  This year we opted to have a low key night and walked in the keiki parade with some friends and their kiddos. It was great seeing all the creative costumes.
I hope you all had a fun and safe Halloween.  What did you dress up as?

Rosy

It's been exactly one month since I've worn this skirt. This time around, I hiked it up over the girls and tada, a midi dress.  Yay for versatility!  The name necklace I'm wearing is from my gorgeous blog friend, Tiffany.  She hand crafts them herself.  Aren't they so pwetty?  I love how dainty and delicate it is.  It's also a great piece to layer with other strands.  The necklace also makes a great gifts.  Buy one for you and a friend. :)  Get them here.  And say Hello to my new rubber sole bootie.  I lurrrrrve that the wedge is rubber, which means it will lessen the chances of me slipping and falling and making a fool of myself in public.  Plus, the heel height is only 3".  Easy peasy to walk, skip, and jump in!

With Halloween only 3 days away, I still have no clue what I'm dressing up as. I have one idea that I keep coming back to, but I'm not sure??!!? What Halloween plans do you guys have? What are you dressing up as?

Key to my heart

Monica over at Spotted Moth sent me this adorable blouse.  Super duper cute, right?  I am totally smitten.  Anytime I wear a peter pan collar, I can't help but feel like a giddy little kid again.  And the quirky lock print... so.much.fun!  At first I really wanted to wear this top with a pair of high waisted leather shorts (the hubby just got them for me) and Lita's, but instead, I decided to pair it an olive micro pleated skirt and a platform sandal.  This pairing blends femininity and whimsy perfectly.  I'm in love with it.  Thanks again Monica!  You can bet that I'll be wearing this top A LOT. :)

If you owned this blouse (and you can! buy here), how would you style it?  Do share.

Nothing to wear

If I had a nickel for every day that I stood in front of my wardrobe and grumbled about having nothing to wear, I'd be a bajillionaire.  Anyone who's seen my closet is well aware that I have a ton of clothes.  Some may say it's excessive. So, why is it that I feel like I never have anything to wear?  Perhaps the culprit is having TOO MANY clothes.  Too many options?  Too many decisions?  Could that really be it?

For years, I've tried to refine my wardrobe, but trends and fads get the best of me.  I am not a "trend-whore", but I will admit I do love trying them.  I try my best to not follow trends so blindly, but some do get the best of me.

Fashion is a funny thing, huh?  Yves Saint Laurent couldn't have said it better, "Fashions fade, Style is eternal."  I have yet to define my own personal style.  It's always changing and I like to break "fashion rules".  It what makes dressing up and being a woman so much fun.  Taking risks and being bold is something I hold true to.  Blending into the background is not an option.

Have you defined your personal style?

These green pants are the first thing I reach for when I feel like I have nothing to wear.  I swear it goes with everything... Today, I paired it with a tee made by the Pirate

Pump Up the Volume

I finally wore this amazing top out last night.  I am so in love with it that I'm tempted to wear it out again today with a mini skirt and flats.  With all the incredible volume the top has, I decided to add more volume by pairing it with a super flared jean.  The unfamiliarity of having no denim hugging my calves is actually quite refreshing.  For years, the skinny jean has ruled my life, but these flares are slowly creeping in to steal the spotlight.  Now, I just need to find it's twin in a darker wash.

Enjoy your Saturday, lovelies.  I'm hoping to make it to the pumpkin patch today.  Fingers crossed.

Channeling Minnie

Doesn't this blouse scream Minnie Mouse!  I was tempted to pair it with red pants/shorts/skirt, but resisted.  This was another great ON find.  I also have the urge to pair it with another polka dot print.  You can never have enough polka dots, right?  Today, I started pattern making a rad little top with bold architectural design lines.  Ideally, it will have lots of structure and a great silhouette.  I'm super excited about this piece, especially because it will have an exaggerated peplum.  When it's done, I promise I'll share it.

I know this is so last season, or last year, or whatev's, but I'm thinking of getting ombre locks.  What do you think?  My hair has been dye-free for years, so I'm not sure if I'm willing to "damage" it all over again.  tee hee!

Giggling in Olive

Over the weekend, I popped into Old Navy and to my surprise, every single thing in the store was on sale.  Some items were even marked 75% off.  Old Navy prices are already affordable, but the extra savings surely makes my pocket book smile.  I left the store with several items.  One of those items being this vest. Yes, I know I already have it in camel, but I had to have it in olive as well.  I'm a creature of habit, can you blame me?

For weeks I pined over this Zara tote and when I was about to purchase it, it sold out (it's currently restocked).  Luckily, as I perused through the VJ-Style site, I found it's twin.  For the price I paid, I'm satisfied... for now.  I may need to get the black version from Zara, since it's now restocked.

Feeling rusty

Happy Monday!

As of late, I've been drawn to rust colors.  Especially when I saw the lovely Jules sporting this top, I knew I had to have it.  There are a lot of websites selling this gorgeous Lush brand top, but Plum For Polly has the best deal, so shop it here.  If you want it in a different color, like black or lavender, you can buy it from Bamboo Sky.  I'm debating if I need it in black?!?  Isn't the second blouse, super duper cute?  Monica from Spotted Moth sent it over.  I can't wait to style it up. :)

What colors are you loving lately?

My heart's a stereo, it beats for you... ♥

I still can't get enough of my new shoes.  Mr. Campbell you really do know the way to my heart. :)  I want to wear them with everything, but when I stare into my closet, I keep reaching for blacks and grays.  I wish I had the perfect little lace number to go with the shoes.  I adore mixing soft and edgy pieces together.  The juxtaposition of hard and soft makes outfits that much more interesting to look at, don't you think?

Today was the first day I've put on a pair of leggings since.... I can't even remember.  It's nice to be able to wear them out, without sweating bullets. :)

Dangerously Amazing

These shoes are the best fall purchase yet.  Freakin' AMAZEBALLS and they also double as a weapon! tee hee. Don't mess with me. Ha! I kid, I kid.  I got them from Plum For Polly, but are now sold out.  You should still head over to the PFP site, to check out the super cute new arrivals.  I've got my eye on this hot number.

What do you think about the HUGE bun?  Rad, huh?!  Guess who sculpted this beauty for me? The Pirate.  I'm lucky to have such a rad and stylish hubby.

Happy Monday... and don't forget to follow me on Twitter: @elisharon.

Always reaching for...

...the stars...

AND this vest.  It's appeared twice on the blog (here and here), but I've definitely worn it a bajillion times since I got it the other month.  Best $25 I've spent.  It just goes to show you that you don't have to spend a fortune to get a great piece that is so versatile.  What in your current wardrobe rotation?

Cheers to the weekend, my loves! Hope yours is fun-filled.  And if you haven't noticed, I finally got me a Twitter account.  Follow me @elisharon, I dare ya. ;)

Hello.

Hey, lovers! I have not abandoned my blog... my life has been crazy busy as of late, but hopefully I can update more regularly, soon.  I miss visiting all my fave blogs.  Here's a little top I whipped up the other week... sheer-ruffley-lightweight-navy goodness!  I'll be back in a couple days.  AND I can't believe it's already October!  Deuces.
