Pink Ice: Mood Silk Tunic

I wanted to share with you guys a fabulous website that I recently came across...  Pink Ice!  They offer a lot of fun and budget friendly pieces.  I contacted the team at Pink Ice to see if I could feature them on my blog.  They have been so kind from the very beginning. :)  Their customer service is exceptional, fun, and friendly.  I got to talking with Young and she is just the sweetest ever.  Let's hear what she has to say about Pink Ice;

Pink Ice started it's first boutique style store in Orange County in 1988.  From there we flourished to opening up 5 more in different parts of Southern California. We wanted to expand and share our love for unique yet trendy sense of fashion to all over the world so we launched our online store in 2007. Our Pink Ice "hot spot" is located on 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica, where it was featured in the 2003 'Freaky Friday' Disney Movie starring Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis. The image Pink Ice promotes is to offer young woman an ambiance that has it all for those who seek trendy, sexy, unique, yet affordable fashion that they can make as their own.

Young was also kind enough to send me a few items.  I really love the Mood Silk Tunic.  The cotton-poly blend is lightweight and quite breathable, which a huge plus to me, since it's so humid here!  It's definitely a great staple piece, because you can wear it with just about anything; from shorts, to pants, to leggings or as I chose to wear it, tucked into a skirt.  There is also some ruching on the bottom sides of the tunic, which add a feminine detail to a basic button up.  The off centered placement of the pocket flaps add to the uniqueness of the tunic as well.  I know I'll be wearing this a lot in the months to come.

Yay or Nay?!

I always think about doing something fresh to my hair, but haven't done anything too different in years!  My current style is something I've come accustomed to, but trust me my hair is not my security blanket.  I don't get attached.  I just love how it's been for the past few years... Healthy. Long. Straight. Virgin Black. Blunt.  Today, I was playing around and fashioned a side bang.  What do you guys think? Yay or Nay?  I say Nay... but would love to hear your thoughts.  (don't worry my blunt fringe is still there!)

RedOne. Konvict. Gaga.

I'm excited for next week!  We get to start sewing our very first garment in the Clothing Construction class that I'm taking.  I chose to make a pair of high waisted scalloped hem shorts (similar to the ones found on QueensWardrobe).  It's going to be fabulous!  Speaking of fabulous, my BFF sent me a couple new pairs of JC's.  She got me red Splendid's and also the Michelle's.  She loathes the Michelle's, but I think they're magical.

I found these flared jeans hanging out in the back of my closet, begging to be worn.  They fit a bit tighter than they used to, but it's a refreshing silhouette.  I want to find a pair in a dark wash and a more exaggerated flare.  Any recommendations?

*I tried playing around with some funky editing... but wasn't very successful. eh.

I hope you lovelies have a wonderful weekend.  And check back tomorrow, I've got something fun in store.  Kisses.

Tryin' to keep cool

The weather fooled me today.  This morning while getting ready, it was overcast, breezy, and cool.  There were even some drizzles... perfect weather for jeans, a silk tank, and a blazer.  Unfortunately, by the time I got to school the SUN WAS BLAZING!  Thank goodness for air-condition!  I can't wait for the weather to cool down.  The Pirate recently found me a couple of gorgeous blazers and I'm dying to wear them!  I'm also sick of having a sweatstache. LOL.

Switched up my nail art today.  Clearly, you can see where I got the inspiration. :)

p.s. Wanna thank everyone for the get well wishes.  I'm thankful it didn't turn into a full blown cold.  I drank lots of water and slept a ton!  Now, I feel super. :)

Current obsession

I've been obsessed with nail art... watching vids on YouTube non-stop.  Elizabeth from IHaveACupcake is freakin' amazing.  Check out her work on her YouTube channel.  Here are a couple money/card boxes I've done recently.  Hello Kitty was shipped all the way to Cali and she made it there safely.  Tomorrow is Monday.  Where did the weekend go?  If anyone finds it, can you let me know? Okay... that's all folks.  QT with the hubby.

Feelin' out of focus

I feel a bit under the weather.

I don't know if I've mentioned this before, but when I'm at home I like to wear my shoes around.  My collection is abundant and I feel like a lot of shoes get ignored.  So it's only fair to give them a whirl while trotting around the house.  My mom got me these Dolce Vita heels last week.  They're quite comfy considering they're 5 inches high with only a 1/2" platform.  Thanks for the shoes mom.

These camouflage shorts are about 5 years old and I am definitely not a fan of camouflage, but there's just something about these shorts I love.  And they're my favorite at-home-lounging-without-company-over shorts. :)  Isn't it funny that as (fashion) bloggers, we don't really showcase our "at home" outfits.  Anyone dare to share?

{T by Alexander Wang sweater | Mossimo camo shorts | Dolce Vita heels}

Before I go and try to find something to prevent this cold from starting up, I wanted to thank all of you that voted for me in the I am Khatu's Vibrant Summer Contest.  Thanks to all your votes, I won.  Thanks Khatu for a great contest.  And I also want to announce the winner Wildfell Hall Giveaway.... congrats to Megan Rose of donatilarose.  Megan, I'll be contacting you shortly. Thanks to everyone who entered and also big thanks to Amy from Wildfell Hall.  It was great working together.

This s*** is Bananas!

September definitely is the hottest month of the year.  So, what better way to cool off than with a yummy treat of shave ice + vanilla ice cream!  YUM.  In my neighborhood we have "The Shave Ice Man".  To this day this shave ice tastes exactly the way it did when I was 10 years old.  It's great knowing that some things never change. :D

{F21 dress | Jeffrey Campbell "Studded Tick" bootie}

Banana flavor is my favorite!  And what a coincident that it's the complimentary color of the dress I wore today.  (also the colors for women's rights! remember that Jo?  LOL)  I started getting into nail art. I bought a bunch of stuff from the drugstore to give it a shot.  I think my navy + blue sparkly zebra striped nails are pretty rad.

There's still a few hours to enter my giveaway!

Jeffrey Campbell, YOU ARE AMAZING!

Everyone knows about my obsession with Jeffrey Campbell shoes!  And remember when I told you guys that I was On Cloud Nine!? Well, this is why!  The sweet sweet Sharon (isn't that awesome, we share the same name!) from Jeffrey Campbell replied to the email I sent them.  She thought my email was the cutest ever (Thanks Sharon!) and offered to send me a pair of Jeffrey Campbell shoes.  In the mail I received the Shaw boot in brown.  These boots are bad ass and I definitely love the giant toothed rubber sole. UH-mazing!!!

And if it couldn't get better, Sharon emailed me to tell me another surprise was coming my way.  I also got these bad boys - the Erickson in a distressed brown color.  :D

Shaw and Erickson playing together. :)

The hugest thanks go out to Sharon and Jeffrey & Christine Campbell for being so kind and generous to send me two awesome pairs of boots.  And also for rocking out the most AMAZING shoes ever!!  You guys totally rock and seriously will have a customer in me for life.  I'm so excited to add more to my collection.  If you're ever in Maui, look me up... I NEED TO MEET YOU GUYS. :D

Oh! and thanks for putting my pic up on the JC Girl's page! Yay!

Skinny Cargos + Faux Fur in Soft Focus

I wish I had I was skilled in Photoshop.
I edit in Picasa, because it's free.
You don't have to spend $200 (ahem, JBrand) to find a great pair of skinny cargos.
This faux fur vest reminds me of a duster, but I love it anyway.
I joined the Couture Club today.
I want to eat some squid ink pasta.
Randomness is great.

Wildfell Hall Vintage Giveaway

This year, thanks part to the blogging community, I've been introduced to something that I thought I would never have consider wearing - VINTAGE.  We don't have a lot of places here on the island where you can find vintage pieces, but that doesn't stop me from perusing our 2nd hand shops and coming across amazing vintage finds.

I was recently contacted by Etsy shop owner Amy, of Wildfell Hall Vintage.   I instantly fell in love with the items her shop has to offer.  Here a few of my favs!

Left to right: Faux Reptile Box Purse, Peach Sunglasses, Shabby Chic Floral Purse, Nautical Striped Cotton Sweater, Peacock Print Shift

Amy also loves capturing real people wearing vintage (or vintage inspired) outfits in their 'everyday' adventures. Take a look at her blog, Vintage Seen to see all the lovely vintage inspiration.  Let's get to know a little more about Amy and Wildfell Hall Vintage.

-Introduce yourself and tell us a little about Wildfell Hall.
The name of my store is from my favorite novel by Anne Bronte. I started Wildfell Hall after realizing that my closet was full of vintage items.  I also love to thrift for clothes and often found great pieces that weren't necessarily a good fit for me.  I hope to one day have a 'brick and mortar' store, but in the meantime am happy online building knowledge and gaining customers.

-Where/When did your love for vintage begin?
I first fell in love with vintage as a teenager.  I remember sneaking into the city after school to peruse vintage stores.  All my friends at the time loved old clothes too, so it was hard not to join in.  I love the individuality and 'one of a kind' quality vintage has.

-Who is your style icon?
Style icon? That's hard. Most inspiration comes from street fashion here in Brooklyn, hence my blog!

-Any tips for anyone who just recently found a love for vintage?
In terms of tips for new lovers of vintage, find an era you love and that suits you, also go for great accessories at first as they are a good way to integrate vintage into your wardrobe without huge investment. Always check a garment for damage, if it's broken it might sit in your closet unworn for a very long time.

Amy has also been kind enough to give away not one, not two, but three beautiful items to ONE lucky winner.  The winner will receive; a large white mesh purse with braided handles, a crystal flower pin, and a white floral scarf. Check it out!

Giveaway rules:
1.  Visit Wildfell Hall Vintage shop and tell me your favorite item. (1 entry)
2.  Become a follower of Vintage Seen. (1 entry)
3.  Become a follower of my blog. (1 entry)
(Yup, you can have up to 3 entries!!!)
*Leave your E-mail Address so you can be contacted if you're the winner!

Open to everyone.  Ends Wednesday, 9/15th (9:00pm hst).  Winner will be announced shortly thereafter.

Vibrant Summer Contest

Just want to tell everyone thank you for all your sweet comments from my last post.  It definitely made me smile.. and the Pirate says thanks too! :)

I recently entered Khatu's Vibrant Summer Contest and here is the outfit I submitted.  I normally love wearing color, so this challenge was a walk in the park for me. :)  I wanted to stick to more saturated and jeweled toned colors, so I stuck with my favorite color palette - blue.  (It's funny that I own so many blue pieces and only a couple of pink ones, pink is apparently my favorite color).

{F21 dress | I.N.C. embellished cardi | BCBGeneration heels | Givenchy (thrifted) clutch | Banana Republic belt | F21 ring | Lucky Feather locket}

Take a look at the contestants here, and if you love my outfit, you can vote for me. :) Voting closes on Sept. 12th.  If not, that's okay too! No pressure.  I had a lot of fun putting this look together.

Happy Monday's lovelies.  Hope you're all enjoying the holiday off.  Happy Labor Day.  I'll be in the office all day.  Yay me!

Happy 11th Together-versary!

Yesterday the Pirate and I celebrated 11 years of "togetherness".  We've known each other for more than half our lives.  Look at this pic I dug up from our 8th grade banquet.  We danced the last song of the night together.

Then on September 4th 1999, we decided to become a real couple.  We went to our senior ball together.  Look at my crazy hair and that skin tight dress!  I still have that dress and there is no way it fits.  hee hee.

In 2008 we got engaged. :)

And in March of 2009 we tied the knot!

We're definitely having a great journey together and we're looking forward to sharing more memories.  Happy Togetherversary my Pirate Eli.  On the sea of love you are my soul-matey. :) for life.

*Isn't it funny that in all these photos, we're either in white or black or white and black? :)

Le Chat

Feeling a little overwhelmed and annoyed.  I hope the feeling will pass.  Here are some pictures from yesterday after class.  Enjoy.

{Pins + Needles dress | Bamboo boots | F21 necklace}

I've had this sewing box for years now.  It says Le Chat all over it... I'm a sucker for cats, but I can't have one, the Pirate is allergic.
