Obsession

I'm still obsessed with my JC Tick Botties.  I really can't get enough of them.  I'll love them even when they go "out-of-style". :) 

This is my favorite corner at Barnes & Noble (I go to B&N a lot) - the Arts/Crafts/Sewing Projects section.  I normally find a new book to add to my collection, but no luck tonight.

Happy 137th Birthday!

Don't rompers make you feel like a kid again!?  I love them.

Pooma got a haircut last week.  Her purple color is almost gone.  Not sure if I want to color them again.  Picked up some of that Apple Bitter Spray... it's sort of working.  She runs when she sees us coming with the bottle.  Hee hee.

Yesterday we went to Local Boy's West and enjoyed some ono (yummy) shave ice!! (yes, locals in Hawaii call it "shave ice" as opposed to shaved ice, well most of us do).  There's quite a few shave ice places on the island, but today was the first day we both tried Local Boy's.  They give you a complimentary scoop of vanilla ice cream on the bottom and you can even add other things like, mochi balls and azuki beans.  I added the mochi balls.  I got to choose three flavors... guava, mango, and dreamsicle... and to add to the sugar rush they top it off with a drizzle of Kauai Cream! Oh la la.  Oh man, that shave ice was pretty awesome! Um, and yes it was shared.  :)

We played tourist and visited Lahaina Town's famous landmark, the Banyan Tree!

Yesterday it celebrated it's 137th Birthday (planted back in 1873).  There was birthday cake, games, artists, crafters, and activities for the keiki.  There were even clowns!  I got a quick picture with them before they got to the festivities.

What is one of your favorite accessories?  Mine would have to be my hair. There is so much versatility in hair.  We can express so much of ourselves through the hairstyles we choose.  And even when you cut it all off, it'll always grow back. :)

Don't Stop...

I had a mini melt down today.  It was terrible!!  My hubby tried to make me feel better and although he normally helps me realize that the "world isn't going to end and that I'll be ok", I still didn't feel ok after talking to him about it.  So I called up my best friend (Jo of joaniebean, visit her here) to vent and ball my eyes out.  Her response was... LAUGHTER!  Yes, she laughed at me and told me I was crazy and thinking irrationally.  Well, she was right.  I laughed at myself too.  I think I just needed a good cry and vent session.  Thanks Jo!  So glad you picked up your phone today.  Everything is better now and my emotions are in check.  This week was has been a trip.  Here's hoping for a better tomorrow. :)

I got this sweater in March.... and it's been so warm this week... but who cares! I'm still lovin' stripes and it's perfect for eating an extra cookie or two.. hee hee. :) Just kidding. I'm trying to make better eating choices. We got a George Foreman grill. It's actually pretty awesome.. and clean up is a breeze!

Today I felt annoyed.  Yes, it was one of those days... But on my lunch break I took a breather, ate some an pan, got some vitamin D from Mr. Sunshine, watched some birds fly by and listened to the waves crash onto the shore.  I guess I have no reason for feeling annoyed when I live in such a relaxing place.

I found this dress last weekend during our impromptu thrifting adventure.  It seems to have been a "sample dress" by a sample maker named Martha.  The tag says it was made on 12/08/09 for a Summer 2010 line.  I wonder if I'll ever run into Martha.  Maybe she'll recognize the dress she made.

And the best thing about this dress, besides the fact that I scored it for a mere $5, is that it's really two dresses in one.  I can sport it either forward and backward.  I like it better backwards.

Rainy Days and Mondays

... never get me down.

It was rainy today.  I had the day off.  It was a great day!  Took these pics before the rain came...

Played with the draping of the dress and made a makeshift shrug.

I'm also super stoked because I was one of the lucky winners of this beautiful bracelet from Amy's {junghwa by amy stewart} Rope Bracelet's Giveaway.

I can't wait to wear it!  Thanks again Amy for picking me!!  If you lovelies don't know Amy yet, definitley check out her BLOG and also her ETSY STORE.  She's a total sweetheart and is uber creative too! You're gonna want everything in her shop!  I know I do. :)

One thing that did make me a bit sad... was my failed attempt to find a boater hat.  My head is large and in charge... there is no hat on the planet that fits my head. :(

Release the Kraken

Today there was a Pamper your Pooch day at the local beach park. We thought it would be great to take Pooma so she could meet up with some fellow k-9's, but because I like to "dilly dally" while getting ready, we were late and missed it!  The story of my life - always late!

We did get to enjoy a nice lunch outdoors from Honokowai Okazuya.  They have ono grinds (yummy food) there (Chicken katsu, Broiled salmon with chili sauce, Ono lemon caper with sundried tomatoes, panko crusted Mahi Mahi to name a few), but I wanted something on the lighter side, so we shared a turkey melt + fries.  I guess not so "light" with the fries.. but oh so yummy.

Enjoyed a peach tea flavored Snapple too.  I haven't had a Snapple in years.  I love the randomness you find underneath the bottle cap.  Puts a wrinkle in my brain.

Tried getting a picture with Pooma, but she couldn't keep still.  I don't blame her, she was out enjoying the great weather... blue skies, sunshine-y goodness, puffy clouds, tradewinds, and blue waters!  Paradise is bliss.

And we made it to the movies tonight too!  Clash of the Titans was awesome.  Kinda bummed we only experienced the 2D version.  If you haven't watched it yet, go NOW :).  Sam Worthington (Perceus) was delicious eye candy and so was Gemma Arterton (Io), what a beauty.  Before leaving I needed to get a quick snap with Carrie.  Can't wait for SATC2!
