Bye bye February

I'm so thankful that Hawaii remanined unharmed by the expected tsunami, but my heart and prayers go out to Chile.  Thank you everyone for your sweet comments and concerns on my last post.

The weather today was very cold, blustery, and RAINY.  I loved it!!  We hardly get rain here, so when it comes I really enjoy it.  The island looks so lush after a good downpour and we get the best rainbows.   My cuddle buddy had to work today, so I cuddled with Pooma and popped in a movie.  This afternoon we went to Hubbs cousin's wedding.  Luckily the weather cleared up by then, but it was still quite chilly and windy.  It was a simple and sweet beach wedding and the bride look absolutely stunning.  After the ceremony, just the immediate family went out for an intimate dinner... so the Hubbs and I decided to get a bite at Star Noodle.  It was delish!!

{dress - Studio M, bow flats - Blow Fish, ring - F21, diamond intial "E" necklace - from Hubbs}

When we left the restaurant tonight there was a "MoonBow"... I'm not sure if that's what it's really called, but it was a rainbow without the colors and at night.  I tried to capture a picture of it, but my crappy point and shoot only captured black.  :(

Can you believe tomorrow will be March 1st... where did the time go?  Off to cuddle with my cuddle buddy :).

I hope everyone is safe...

Quick update:
If you haven't heard yet, there was an 8.8 earthquake in Chile (my prayers are with those who have been affected) yesterday, which has caused a Tsunami Warning to the state of Hawaii.  The tsunami is expected to hit the Big Island (Hilo) at 11:05am.

The weather today is pristine.  It's just pass 10:00am and still very calm.  I really hope the Tsunami doesn't reach us and our state in left unharmed.  We've been watching the news since 5am.... and the sirens have been going off since 6am.  We also ran to the market to stock up on a few things... I was dumbfounded as to what to get... I can't imagine eating food "right out of the can", but if worse came to worse, I guess that would need to be done.  We are fortunate enough that we live on higher ground.  I pray that everyone will remain safe today and pray that the tsunami does not reach us.

***Took quick snaps while at the check out stand at the market this morning.  This is a strange first; spam + macnuts = only in Hawaii (I didn't buy them)...

***At Mamang's house... My BFF asked if I could go check up on her grandma.  Mamang (that's what she calls her) was doing fine.  She didn't seemed fazed at all, totally calm.  I'm glad.

Gonna go watch the news..  I hope all of you are safe today.

My sister Leah is so thoughtful.  Look at what she just got me!  Thank you so much sister!!  It's such a pretty book and I love the gold edges on the pages.  I can't wait to read all the fun stories.  Ahh and the smell of a new book, it's great... but I also love the smell of vintage books.. oh and libraries too!!

ONE more week and we get to experience the crazy world that is Alice in Wonderland! Squealing with delight!!!

Inspired

Went to the market to do some late night grocery shopping. Well, not really groceries; more like milk, coffee, vanilla creamer, granola bars, and nail polish. The nail polish is Kerokerokeroppi and is for my friend's daughter.  Aunty Sharon can't resist buying cute things for her!

Anyway, I was inspired by the D&G Spring 2010 line.. this outfit in particular.

So I looked in my closet to see if I had anything remotely close to this... and this is what I came up with. It's nowhere near as amazing as the actual look, but I feel great in what I came up with.  And, yes I like to dress up to go to the market, even when it's late at night.

{denim shirt - Paul & Joe for Target (thrifted), skirt - Old Navy, belt - ?, boots - Bamboo, sandals - Nine West, bracelets - Hubbs, Clio Blue, jade ring - Hubbs, watch - Orient, via giveaway from Couture Carrie}
I tried the look with navy espadrilles.  I think I like it better with them.

Looking at some snacks before leaving the store, but resisted the urge.  The Hubbs got me this Mini HL LV for my 24th Birthday (that seems like soooooooooo long ago!), along with a weekend getaway to Oahu and two tickets (7th row) to Gwen Stefani.   That was an awesome birthday!

I recieved a surprise in the mail today from my BFF.  A super cute pair of sandals and swiss dot tights from UO!  She's the Best best friend ever.  We've known each other for over 20 years and we've shared so many great memories together.  And although we're thousands of miles away from eachother, she never more than a call away.  I love you Jo!  You are an amazing woman.  Thanks for loving me thru thick and thin.

Oh and one more thing, my "Baldy" (her real name is Lauren) gave birth to a beautiful baby boy last night!!  She is going to be the most amazing mother ever! Congrats Baldy! I love you. Can't wait to meet baby LJ.

Good Night everyone.  Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite.  See ya tomorrow!

Versatility is Key

There really aren't seasons in Hawaii, but that doesn't stop me from dressing kinda "wintery" when it's supposedly winter here.  With many awaiting warmer weather, Caroline from CAROLINESmode is hosting an amazing giveaway, just in time for spring!!  She's picked 14 items that can be made into 14 looks, how awesome is that!?!... and this would have to be my favorite look.

I chose this look because it's something that I would not normally wear.  Come on now, a skirt that short on my body would be scandalous!  But this look is just so amazing and would totally kick me into gear at the gym.

The reason why I think I should win is because even women in Hawaii WANT to look stylish and on trend.  I take everyday as an opportunity to dress up and look great.  You never know who you're gonna meet... and what if the next person you meet will be the one that will bring great oppotunites to your life.  The world is your catwalk, strut your stuff!!

Get your booties over to her blog to enter the giveaway!! Have fun ladies and good luck.

It's incredible... it's Edible!!

One of my favorite things to eat are EGGS! It's such a versatile food. My favorite way to enjoy them is over easy. Not many people I know love them that way.. but I love the ooze!!  Egg-in-the-Hole or as I like to call it, Hole-in-One is a fun way to eat an egg! This morning I made a couple for myself (heart shaped) and since the Hubbs doesn't eat Oozie eggs I made him a little scrambled egg sammie with the bread heart cut outs.

Love what you've got

I don't really shop for tights or leggings at Claires, but couldn't pass up a deal... scored 7 pairs for $7.  We also don't "need" to wear tights here in Hawaii.. but I love them and we've recently been experiencing a "coldfront".   If I were granted one two wishes at this very moment, I'd wish for perfect eyesight and thinner thighs. :) I'd never ever ever ever ever have to wear contacts or glasses again and printed and textured tights would look so much better on me! But oh well, love what you've got right!?! Actually if I did have two wishes, I'd wish for ________... hmmm I don't really know.

{button up tunic - thrift, tank - F21, boots - Chinese Laundry, tights - Claires}

I made Juicy Lucy's and a side of TOTS for dinner tonight.  This could be the reason why I'm having the "thigh" problem, but it was oh so delicioso!  Hubby was all smiles. :)

[click click for gigantic veiw!]

Did anyone watch Project Runway tonight?? I love Jay Sario's designs... but tonight I fell in love with Seth's amazing creation!! I want to own it. It's sooooooo AMAZING! I need it!! and I need the coordinating little girl's outfit for my future daughter.

We rented Angels and Demons tonight.. so I'm off to watch it. Ta-ta lovelies.

Cheesey Love

The Hubbs and I had a great Valentines Day, even though he had to work for most of the day.  When he came home I surprised him with a yummy homemade dinner at Cafe Clemons (our home).

I made a makeshift cafe sign (scrap cardboard, paint, and some ribbon).. Our place is super teeny, but here's the table set up.  I also strung some twinkle lights... and John Legend played in the background.

I actually tweaked the menu a lot.  Originally I was going to make Truffle Mac & Cheese, but I didn't realize truffle oil was quite pricy, almost $30!! So I passed on that, maybe next time.  I also was going to prepare spinach and strawberry salad, but a small pack of berries were $9.. and they looked over-ripened.  It's crazy how much we pay for groceries in paradise.  Regardless we had a great dinner!

I made a light Nutella Butter Cream frosting for my sinfully chocolatey fudge choco chip cuppies.. Oh la la.  The card the Hubbs got me was super sweet too.. and got me all choked up, which got him all choked up.. tear. :)

Pooma was trying to eat some of the Mac & Cheese, don't worry she didn't have any... but this pic was super cute 'cause it looks like she's gonna take a big bite!!!.. and the Hubbs after a few glasses of wine... so silly!!

And even though we were just dining in our home, I still wanted to dress up a bit (minus the makeup).  Doesn't this dress have a striking resemblence to the Nanette Lepore dress seen here on Miley Cyrus back in 2009?  Well, I got this dress last September at Walmart.  Yes, you read right, Walmart. Crazy huh!?!  We went there to get a few things for the house and this dress caught my eye.  It was the only one left and my size, and the best part was that it was only $11!  I'm sure the real deal feels much more fabulous than my version, but it's still super comfy and very easy to wear.  I love wrap dresses and hope to own one by Miss Von Furstenberg one day.  Also, this is the first time in over 3 weeks that I put on heels. It was a weird feeling, but pretty awesome too.

{dress - Walmart, sandals - Enzo Angiolini, fresh water pearl necklace - from my Aunt on my wedding day, purse - La Ragale Satin Minaudiere Heart from hubby}

Hope everyone had a great Love Day... :) and Happy Chinese New Years too! Ooooh can't wait, they always have yummy food at work for Chinese New Years and it's for a whole week too!

Come baby come, baby baby, come come

... well you gotta give me lovin' and you gotta give me some... I couldn't stop listening to this song last night. ha ha.

Sleep has found me once again... in form of cat naps. Still not getting much sleep in the evenings, maybe about 4 - 5 hours... but I hope that will change this coming week. I'm hitting the gym again. I think I can put on sneaks again. Crossing fingers and toes too :).

AB of TheOwlsCloset introduced me to a wonderful dessert DIY. She got if from Bakerella. Bakerella has awesome yummy goodness. Check it out if you haven't already.

I really thought the Hello Kitty Cake Pops would be a simple DIY, but I was wrong!!  The foundation of the cakepop itself was easy enough, but everthing after that went downhill.  It was a mess and my hubby even saw me struggling... :(  Seriously I wasn't even going to post pics of them because I was very sad wtih the outcome. With my version, I used Wilton sparkle gel for the bow, Wilton ready-to-use icing for the eyes, nose, and whiskers. You can see Bakerella's creation here.  Although mine are NOT PERFECT, they're still pretty  yummy.

I also made some fun Love Day or Everyday cards.  I call them my "Panty Cards".  My sister Leah mentioned to make a "naughty" one with no undies, but since my blog is PG-13-rated, I've keep that card out.  :)

{click click to make big!}

I hope everyone has a great Valentine's Day tomorrow! Anyone have something "out of the ordinary" planned?  I'm off for some cuddle time with the hubbs. xx

Love, S

***I know a lot of bloggers have already noted this, but I'm still in shock and saddened with the lost of a fashion genius! Alexander McQueen will be truly missed. Rest in Peace.

Eyes Wide Open

Last night I only slept for 3 hours. I could not sleep. I think lack of exercise (because I still can't put on sneaks) has contributed to lots of sleepless nights!! Agh. :( This funk needs to pass NOW!

{top - Old Navy, denim skirt - DIY, sandals - Old Navy, belt - random, lockets - F21 & Lucky Feather, bracelet - Thrift, ring - Tahiti Pearl Market}

This ring (Tahiti Pearl Market) brings back such great memories of our trip to Tahiti.  It was one of the the best weeks ever and the best tan I've ever had.. oh and topless sunbathing!!!  I got to pick out the pearls (from thousands!!) and setting and they created it right in front of me. Ahhh Tahiti... we'll be back one day.

Last night since slumberland was not on my side, I made some headbands for a couple of very special little girls. It's for LOVE day. I hope they love it.

Oh and over the weekend I recieved the necklace I won from Noomie Doodles Fashion. It's super cute. Can't wait to wear it. I heart her doodles.

I hope Mr. Sandman comes soon. I really need me some shut eye. Happy Hump Day everyone.
