All dolled up

Today was a lovely, hot, sunny day in Maui. Eli + I did a little shopping. We shop waaay too much!! But I'm glad I don't ever have to drag him to come shopping with me. :) Remember he loves fashion!! I got a couple lacey dresses, a very sweet brocade crop jacket, knitted black oversized cardi, and jelly sandals. Eli got a pair of Levi's shorts and Buffalo shirts...

I'm picked up a couple bronzers by Physicians Formula. They we practically free.. normally $14.00 at the drug store, but were 40% + my spouse discount + additional $5.00 off = a little over $2.00 Score! The one with the crescent moon reminds me of my "moon ranger sisters", my best friends, Jo + Carface. Love them ladies...

Tonight, Wendy came over with her three year old daughter, Kamoana and we helped her out with her very first pre-school craft project. I love crafting!! almost as much as I love shopping.

The project was to make a paper person cut out (it looked more like a gingerbread man, so I turned the shape into something a little more human) represent them. Of course I had to be an overachiever and instead of actually drawing, gluing, taping, coloring straight onto the paper person, I used it as a pattern. I crafted a doll for her!! We all worked together (becuase it wasn't my project, it was Kamoana's -- and I had to give up control, a hard thing for me to do!!) and here is the end result. Kamoana contributed a lot to this project, she stuffed the doll, cut her hair, drew on her nose and piko (belly button), glued on the dots for the bikini and the fishes google eye, painted the nails and toe nails, and even fashioned a heart that we put in the doll before she was sewn shut... kudos to Build-a-Bear for the idea!! Look at how happy she is, Kamoana, not the doll. :)

Love, S

(the bikini was inspired by one of Kamoana's very own suits, she also loves fishing, and of course every little girl, and big girl loves to paint their nails!!)

I remember our wedding day like it was yesterday. That day was absolutely perfect. It really was everything that we both envisioned + more!! I absolutely loved all the details of our wedding, but what really mattered the most to me was that I was marrying the most amazing man in the world!!

Here are a few pics from our wedding day...

Hubby + Denim = Love

Believe it or not, my hubby, Eli is obsessed with fashion, maybe even more so than I am. His all time favorite fashion obsession would have to be denim. He's owned a couple hundred pairs of jeans, but his closet only houses about 40 pairs these days... Denim to him is the equivalent of shoes to women - you can never have enough!! He even styled out his wedding attire with you guessed it, denim... and I wouldn't have had any other way!!

Lipstick Red

I'm hungover today. I don't remember the last time I felt like this, but browsing the Louboutin website and dreaming that one day my feet will be in one of his amazing designs, makes the hangover subside. Oh how dreamy....

She speaks from the heart...

Yesterday the Eli and I went to meet my favorite kitty of all time - Hello Kitty!! I was also on a mission to pick up my bridesmaid dress for my friend Lauren's wedding next month. But no luck!! I got "distracted" and instead picked up few pairs of jeans, a couple dresses and tops, wedges, and some drug store finds. It was a great Saturday! Oh, also picked up Gossip Girl Season One. I convinced Eli to watch it with me and to my surprise he acutally enjoyed it. We stayed up until the wee hours of the morning (4:30am!!), drank a few cocktails, and watch half of the first season! Definitely a new fave for me. Xoxo :)

The lovely Hello Kitty :)

Hug Hug!!

Drug store finds. All this cost less than a tube of Mac Lipstick. Wondering how they will look?? but more importantly how they will feel.

Friday Night

I made home made, from scratch, mozzarella sticks tonight. It came out really great. So great that Eli and I ate waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many of them! I'll have to think twice now before spending $7++ for an order of mozz stix when we go out to eat. Much better when it's made with love, by me, for me, and for my love. :)

I also made delicious **Apple Cake**. I didn't have butter at home, so I asked Eli to get some for me at the market after his workout... and when he got home I opened the grocery bag to find Imperial Margarine Sticks. NOT BUTTER AT ALL!! He said, "It's the same thing!"... clearly he doesn't know what he's talking about, but I love his efforts regardless. :) I used it anyway... but although the cake still came out good, BUTTER would have made it better. Everything always better with butter, in moderation of course.

Apple Cake Recipe ^_* (thanks, Mrs. D!!)
Preheat oven 350 degrees
Cream together until smooth (by hand is fine):
1 stick butter, room temp.
1 c sugar
Add and mix:
1 egg
1 cup diced apples (approximately 1 large apple)
1 tsp vanilla extract
dash salt
Sift together, add, and mix:
1 cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg (optional)
Pour into greased pyrex dish and bake for 35 minutes, until browned. Check with toothpick, if it comes out clean, it's done! Enjoy.
***You can also add chopped nuts to the batter.
***I like my apple cake with out frosting, but you can make a simple cream cheese frosting or serve it ala mode.... Enjoy!!!

Purple lovin'

I have never been a fan of purple. Not even when I was younger, but lately I've been diggin it. A nice fall color. :) Also lovin' navy at the moment. I still can't get over how much F21 has changed. I dreaded shopping in this store a few years back. Everything was polyester or acrylic blends or fabrics that weren't breathable! Yuck. But now, there are so many fabulous and affordable finds!

party time...

Tonight Elisha and I went to Safirah's 1st birthday party. The theme - Jungle Safari! I tried whippin up a zebra print skirt last night, but proscrastinated and didn't finish. :(... so I had to come up with something quick... I found a pair of "snake skin" espadrilles in my closet and just paired it with a simple wrap dress. It was a fun party, with good food, good desserts, and good company. After the party Elisha and I went to watch Julie & Julia. Sweet movie. :)
